DNVN - Technology corporation Microsoft has begun making announcements to encourage users to switch to new computers running Windows 11 and Copilot+, in the context of the upcoming end of Windows 10 support.

Microsoft has been sending Windows 10 users messages like "Do more with your new Windows 11 PC" or "Upgrade to a Copilot+ PC for the ultimate Windows 11 experience." However, clicking on the "More details" link in these messages takes users to a page advertising the new PC.

Notably, the announcements made no mention of the possibility that users would be able to continue using Windows 10 after October 14, 2025. Individual users can pay $30 to receive additional updates for a year, while businesses have the option to purchase updates for three years. This suggests that Microsoft is pushing users to buy new computers rather than just pay for extended support.

Encouraging upgrades to new operating systems is not new to Microsoft. In the past, the company has encouraged Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users to switch to Windows 10. However, this announcement focuses heavily on new PC purchases, as many devices currently do not meet the technical requirements for Windows 11, which only supports processors released in 2018 or later.

The transition to Windows 11 has been slow, with most users still satisfied with Windows 10. However, in the PC gaming segment, Windows 11 soon became the most popular operating system on the Steam platform in the summer of 2024. However, more time is needed to verify the level of user acceptance to increase.

Steam is a platform developed by Valve Corporation, specializing in online game distribution, digital rights management, multi-user gaming support and providing social communication services on the internet. Considered as a copyrighted "game store" of Valve, Steam is where users can download games after paying with real money.

Despite announcing that it would stop releasing major updates to Windows 10 in 2023, Microsoft continues to add new features to the operating system. Notably, in June 2024, the company reopened the Windows 10 beta testing program.

Copilot is Microsoft's AI assistant, built on advanced language models from OpenAI like ChatGPT. It can generate text content like emails, poems, essays, search summaries, and even rewrite them in different styles. It can also generate images, write code, and perform many other complex tasks.

Copilot+ PC is a new computer concept from Microsoft, including a line of laptops and desktops equipped with powerful hardware, meeting the minimum requirements to handle AI tasks. With powerful NPU processors, Copilot+ machines are capable of performing more than 40,000 billion calculations per second and operate efficiently with high-capacity batteries.

Introduced in May 2024, Copilot+ PC marks a major step forward in the personal computing industry. The combination of powerful hardware, intelligent software, and AI processing capabilities has brought an unprecedented experience to previous PC lines.

The Copilot+ PC series has many outstanding features such as Recall (reviewing operation history on the computer), Cocreator (creating and editing AI images in real time right on the device), Live Captions (translating audio from more than 40 languages to English), and many other features.
