Microsoft supports Vietnamese youth with disabilities in the "Digital Education for All" movement

The program to launch the "Digital Education for the People" movement for Vietnamese youth with disabilities, organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Association for the Disabled in coordination with relevant units, took place at the official office of Microsoft Vietnam on the afternoon of March 12.

According to the plan, activities to support Vietnamese youth with disabilities to participate in the "Digital Education for All" movement will have the direct participation of Microsoft, specifically the artificial intelligence tool Copilot, with the goal of supporting disadvantaged young people to solve practical "problems" in life, raise awareness, technology skills, and build confidence in self-development.

Microsoft Vietnam General Director, Ms. Nguyen Quynh Tram, shared: "There are currently more than 1 billion people with disabilities in the world. Studies show that the rate of people with disabilities having jobs and receiving education is always low, while the rate of people with disabilities living in poverty is high."

However, Ms. Tram believes that people with disabilities are still one of the largest untapped, talented workforces globally. According to Microsoft research , 91% of people with disabilities surveyed said Copilot was a useful support tool; 85% believed that Copilot could create a more inclusive work environment; 76% said that using this tool could help them develop better in the workplace.

It is known that the accompanying activities that Microsoft will deploy to support Vietnamese youth with disabilities will last from now until June 2025, including many specific activities such as launching the campaign, equipping skills, developing thinking... and concluding with the programming contest "Copilot application in life".

According to Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Youth with Disabilities Pham Van Thanh, the forecast that 65% of current jobs will be replaced by technology is actually an opportunity for disabled youth to access digital training, career guidance, start-ups, online businesses, and participate in social activities.

"The Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Youth with Disabilities has built a companion model, gathering a network of leading experts in artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, information security and safety, digital content creators, e-sports athletes, graphic experts, programming... Experts will train from the most basic and easy-to-apply things, creating a foundation for disabled youth to self-study, improve their qualifications, and update new content," said Mr. Pham Van Thanh.
