Man Utd increase price to buy Onana

In the offer sent yesterday, Man Utd placed 54 million USD , 5 million more than the previous offer rejected by Inter in the deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The latest figure does not reach the $65 million that Inter is asking for. Therefore, Man Utd still have to wait for a response from the Italian team.

According to the British newspaper Daily Mail , Man Utd are very optimistic. They believe they can reach an agreement with Inter at the above price, or add a few million USD in additional fees. Inter themselves also want to sell Onana to invest in other positions, while the Cameroonian goalkeeper is eager to reunite with coach Erik Ten Hag. While serving Ajax, the two together won three Dutch championships, two Dutch Cups and one Dutch Super Cup.

Man Utd are using a similar tactic to the Mason Mount deal. Chelsea demanded a $74 million transfer fee and $9 million in add-ons, but after three bids, Man Utd won the English midfielder for $70 million in transfer fees and $6 million in add-ons.

If he joins Man Utd, Onana will most likely be the main goalkeeper. Goalkeeper David De Gea is no longer a Man Utd player. The "Red Devils" once offered De Gea a contract extension with a salary of 250,000 USD per week, but then made a lower offer. The 32-year-old goalkeeper did not accept and is looking for a new club.

Onana joined Inter on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 and has a contract until 2027. In his first season for Inter, the 27-year-old goalkeeper won the Italian Cup, the Italian Super Cup and reached the Champions League final.
