The Vietnam Women's Museum, the Southern Women's Museum and the Ao Dai Museum are special and meaningful places to visit on the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day October 20.
1. Located at 36 Ly Thuong Kiet, the central area of Hanoi, the Vietnam Women's Museum is one of the few museums in Vietnam that is widely known on the international tourist map. This facility was established in 1987, under the Vietnam Women's Union.
Since its inception, the Vietnam Women's Museum has grown with a collection of more than 25,000 documents and artifacts, successfully organized many thematic exhibitions, and served hundreds of thousands of domestic and international visitors each year.
Coming to the Vietnam Women's Museum, domestic and foreign tourists will have many unforgettable experiences with thousands of documents, artifacts, and images telling in detail meaningful stories about Vietnamese women...
The Vietnam Women's Museum is always among the top most attractive tourist destinations in Hanoi, according to TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel website. Notably, in 2013, TripAdvisor voted the Vietnam Women's Museum into the top 25 most attractive museums in Asia.
2. Located at 202 Vo Thi Sau Street, the Southern Women's Museum is one of the attractive destinations for tourists when visiting Ho Chi Minh City. The museum was inaugurated on May 18, 1990, and currently manages about 31,360 different artifacts.
The museum’s artifacts were collected from many localities and from many different periods, reflecting many aspects of the lives of Southern women throughout history. In addition, there are nearly 15,000 film documents and 11,000 books about Southern women.
Not only honoring cultural values and traditional beauty, the artifacts here also highlight the struggle of Vietnamese women in general, and Southern women in particular, through the great resistance wars of the nation.
In particular, the revolutionary activities of famous Vietnamese women have been recreated through many valuable original artifacts, typically the guns used by heroes Le Thi Hong Gam and Nguyen Thi Ut (Ut Tich) in the resistance war against America.
3. Located in Long Phuoc ward, district 9, Ho Chi Minh City, the Ao Dai Museum is home to a huge collection of Ao Dai designs of Vietnamese women from different periods.
The ao dai designs displayed here vividly reflect the "evolution" of Vietnamese ao dai over time, from the 17th century four-panel ao dai to the designs of contemporary fashion designers.
Visitors to the museum will be surprised to see with their own eyes the styles of ao dai that were popular throughout history, such as the five-panel ao dai of the early 19th century, the modern ao dai of the 1930s-1940s, and the hippie ao dai in the South from 1968-1975...
In particular, the Ao Dai Museum also owns many Ao Dai sets worn by famous Vietnamese women, such as People's Artist Tra Giang, diplomats Nguyen Thi Binh and Ton Nu Thi Ninh.
