On August 27, the Kon Tum Provincial Department of Health announced that it had issued a document on implementing measures to prevent and control dengue fever in the province.
Accordingly, since the beginning of the year, Kon Tum province has recorded 86 outbreaks with 252 cases of dengue fever, occurring in 8 districts and cities in the province.
Kon Tum province is currently entering the rainy season, combined with hot and humid weather, which is a favorable time for mosquitoes that transmit dengue fever (also known as Aedes mosquitoes) to breed and thrive. It is forecasted that the number of dengue fever cases in this province will continue to increase rapidly in the coming time and is expected to peak around September and October.
Kon Tum Provincial Department of Health requires localities in the province to proactively and urgently strengthen measures to prevent and control dengue fever.
Spraying insecticide is an effective measure to prevent dengue fever.
Ms. Y Ngoc, Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, directed the Department of Health and People's Committees of districts and cities to organize inspections, supervision, and guidance on the implementation of epidemic prevention work, especially in areas with recorded cases of the disease, at risk of outbreaks, and areas where vaccination has not been well managed and has a low vaccination rate.
In localities with increasing dengue fever cases and outbreaks, the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committees of districts and cities to direct the implementation of measures to handle outbreaks according to the instructions of the health sector. At the same time, organize inspections of school grounds and classrooms in the area to ensure cleanliness, airy classrooms, and adequate lighting at educational institutions, schools, nurseries, and kindergartens, especially to carry out environmental sanitation well, and kill mosquito larvae...
