Mr. Pham Ngoc Dong was appointed to the position of director, after 1 year and 6 months the hospital had no one to hold the position of director.
Mr. Dong (born in 1969, from Hanoi) graduated as a doctor in 1992 and received his doctorate in medicine in 2009. He was recognized by the State Council of Professors as an associate professor of medicine in 2019.
Mr. Dong has held the position of Deputy Director in charge of professional affairs at the Central Eye Hospital since 2017. From May 2024, he has been Deputy Director in charge of hospital management and operations.
Previously, in August 2023, while holding the position of Director of the Central Eye Hospital, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hiep submitted an application for early retirement due to health reasons and was approved by the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Health also assigned a deputy head of the Department of Organization and Personnel to take charge of the hospital, then assigned Mr. Dong to be in charge until now, when he was officially appointed to the position of director.
The hospital's personnel organization is not stable, leading to difficulties in organizing medical examination and treatment at the Central Eye Hospital in recent times. At times, the hospital had to minimize the number of surgeries due to not being able to purchase supplies.
Receiving the decision from the Ministry of Health, Mr. Dong thanked the Board of Directors and all the staff and employees of the Central Eye Hospital for trusting him and nominating him for a new assignment.
"For the hospital, this is an important moment, ending a period of 1 year and 6 months without a director. For me personally, this is a great honor but also a very heavy responsibility to carry out," Mr. Dong shared.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan and the ministry proposed that the Party Committee and leaders of the Central Eye Hospital review the hospital's development orientation in terms of professional development, facilities, human resource training, etc. to meet the people's increasing demand for eye examination and treatment.
Deploying more new techniques and methods, proactively upgrading, repairing and supplementing medical equipment to contribute to modernizing facilities and equipment.
At the same time, pay attention to training, improving professional capacity, improving the hospital's service attitude. Perform well the work of directing and supporting expertise, transferring technology, scientific research, hospital management to ensure publicity, transparency, ...
Central Eye Hospital is a leading medical facility specializing in ophthalmology, with extensive experience in treating eye injuries, corneal transplants, phaco surgery, refractive surgery...
However, for a while the hospital was very short of supplies, many techniques had to be temporarily suspended or patients had to be transferred to other hospitals, including private hospitals.
