In early 2023, VFF parted ways with Technical Director Yusuke Adachi after more than 2 years of cooperation. After that, VFF searched for a new technical director and was recommended by the Japan Football Federation to Mr. Koshida Takeshi - who has more than 30 years of experience leading Japanese football teams.

Mr. Koshida Takeshi was born in 1960 and spent many years contributing to Japanese football as a player before moving to coaching in 1995. Mr. Koshida Takeshi is often trusted by the Japan Football Association to participate in national coach training courses at levels C, B, and A.

As the VFF Technical Director, Mr. Koshida Takeshi will participate as a lecturer in the coach training courses and seminars organized by VFF; coordinate with the VFF youth team coaching department to jointly orient and train Vietnamese youth football, and be responsible for training human resources for Vietnamese football, especially the system of young coaches and technical directors for football clubs and centers. In addition, Mr. Koshida Takeshi also has the role of coordinating, improving quality, updating international information as well as the most modern and advanced methods today so that Vietnamese football can have a shorter approach to the development of international football.

Speaking at the ceremony, VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi said: “This is an effort by VFF to invest in depth, inviting highly qualified foreign experts to teach experience, contributing to helping Vietnamese football build the necessary foundations for sustainable development. Vietnamese football coaches really need to learn to improve their skills, especially the coaching team at professional clubs. Mr. Koshida Takeshi's work as a lecturer is extremely important in training a team of coaches with good qualifications and expertise to ensure coaching work in line with the development direction of Vietnamese football.”

Mr. Koshida Takeshi expressed: “I feel very lucky and grateful to be the Technical Director of VFF. Vietnam is a dynamic country with a developed football industry, especially youth football. I hope I can contribute a small part to training Vietnamese coaches and football talents. I hope to contribute to helping the Vietnamese team participate in the 2026 World Cup Finals or the 2030 World Cup.”

“Coach Troussier and I had the opportunity to meet once. Fortunately, Mr. Troussier and I were arranged to stay next to each other in the accommodation provided by VFF. This will be a favorable condition for Mr. Troussier and I to discuss daily work, thereby helping me better understand my work in Vietnamese football,” said Mr. Koshida Takeshi.

The contract value and salary of Mr. Koshida Takeshi are kept confidential by VFF. However, according to VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu: "The negotiation and signing of the contract with Mr. Koshida Takeshi went smoothly because VFF received maximum support from the Japan Football Federation."
