The National Day holiday has ended 11 days of holidays and Tet in 2024 for workers working in Vietnam.
Specifically, according to the 2019 Labor Code, employees are entitled to take a day off with full pay on the following holidays and Tet: New Year's Day is 1 day off (January 1); Lunar New Year is 5 days off; Victory Day is 1 day off (April 30); International Labor Day is 1 day off (May 1); National Day is 2 days off (September 2 and 1 day before or after); Hung King's Commemoration Day is 1 day off (March 10 of the lunar calendar).
In 2025, New Year's Day falls on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Thus, on New Year's Day 2025, workers will have 1 day off and receive full pay.
The Labor Code stipulates that every year, based on actual conditions, the Prime Minister decides on Lunar New Year and National Day holidays.
Therefore, every year, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will advise the Prime Minister to decide on the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays based on the opinions of central ministries and branches. According to regulations, Lunar New Year is 5 days off and National Day is 2 days off.
Therefore, at the end of this year, the Ministry will seek opinions from ministries and branches on the number of holidays for the 2025 Lunar New Year and National Day. After that, the Prime Minister will decide on the specific holiday schedule.
According to Article 104 of the 2019 Labor Code, a bonus is an amount of money or property or other forms that an employer rewards an employee based on the production and business results and the employee's level of work completion.
The bonus regulations are decided by the employer and publicly announced at the workplace after consulting with the employee representative organization at the workplace where there is an employee representative organization at the workplace.
It can be seen that if the business is doing well, it can reward its employees with large amounts of money. If the business situation is not good, the business can reward its employees with little or even no money.

According to Article 107 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees are only required to go to work on New Year's Day if they agree.
When agreeing to work, employees will be paid overtime according to the provisions of Article 98 of the 2019 Labor Code as follows: Working during the day of New Year's Day will be calculated at an additional 300% of the salary of a normal working day; working at night on New Year's Day will be calculated at an additional 390% of the salary of a normal working day.
