Ms. Bui Thi Ha, President of Khanh Cuong Commune Women's Union, said: From a kindergarten teacher, in 2011 I was elected President of the Commune Women's Union. Moving to work in a new field, I was quite bewildered at first. After a while, working and understanding the wishes of women, I felt attached to and loved my job, wanting to bring joy to cadres, members, and women.
Identifying the work of building a strong Women's Union organization as a key task throughout, deciding the quality and effectiveness of the Union's activities, to attract different groups of women, Ms. Bui Thi Ha and the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of the commune focus on innovating the Union's activities, effectively exploiting the application of IT, internet, social networks in managing the Union's activities, meeting the cultural and artistic needs of women members, in line with the innovation period.
The Association built and launched the model "Association attracting 100% of members" to gather and attract members according to their objects, professions, interests, and ages. Established a sports folk dance club with 40 members. Invited teachers to guide and organize practice in the evenings. The activities of the folk dance club have attracted the enthusiastic response of female cadres and members. Up to now, it has expanded to 21 folk dance clubs in 21 branches, 1 zumba club, with over 600 members participating in regular practice, contributing to improving health, creating a vibrant movement in the commune.
The President of the Women's Union of the commune, Bui Thi Ha, together with women's union members, promoted the dissemination of activities on social networks such as Zalo and Facebook; created conditions for women to communicate, share and exchange experiences in family care and child rearing; reflected the thoughts and aspirations of members and contributed ideas to the Women's Union of the commune and the higher-level Union. These activities contributed to providing knowledge and skills in child rearing, organizing family life, preventing social evils, supporting women to exercise and improve their health, attracting women of all ages and occupations to participate in the Union.
In order to have conditions to take care of and organize the activities of the Association, the branches have encouraged members to practice thrift, mobilize social resources from the children of the hometown for the movement and activities of the Association. In particular, the model of "Collecting scrap to raise funds for the Association" associated with "Classifying and treating waste at the source" has been interested in and implemented by the Commune Women's Union since the end of 2020. The Commune Women's Union held a meeting to launch the emulation to each branch, propagate, mobilize and share the purpose and meaning of the model and guide households to classify waste.

Every Saturday, the association collects scrap such as plastic bottles, beer cans, old newspapers, etc. collected by families to support the model. The money is collected and made public at the association every 6 months. The funds collected from the sale of scrap are used to visit and help women and children in difficult circumstances. The model has been actively supported by many women members because collecting scrap not only cleans the environment but also brings meaningful activities such as supporting the disadvantaged, while educating the awareness of saving and keeping the environment clean.
Khanh Cuong Women's Union also focuses on building and developing models, contributing to changing the face of the homeland. In particular, the title "Worth living countryside" has been given to Khanh Cuong commune by many people. To gain this recognition, in addition to the leadership of the Party Committee and local government, there are also significant contributions from women of all walks of life in the commune.
The model "Clean Houses, Beautiful Roads Association" stands out, initially selecting 1 association as a pilot with 10 participating households. Assigning commune association officials, women's association heads to coordinate with the village Front Committee to regularly go down to propagate and guide households on how to arrange and decorate their houses and gardens neatly and scientifically, actively encouraging and motivating households to do well. Propagating to households to clean up village roads and alleys every week, planting trees and flowers, building model gardens and model flower roads in residential areas.
The Commune Women's Union also plays a bridging role, arousing the spirit of initiative and creativity, mobilizing cadres and women members to donate land, contribute labor and effort to build rural roads; participate in protecting self-managed roads; and clean the environment. From the effectiveness of the pilot model, 21/21 branches have been identified. Up to now, the whole commune has planted 28 km of tree and flower roads with over 900,000 Mat Ngoc trees, 250 Sau trees, Ban flowers, thousands of trees of all kinds, over 500 pots of Bougainvillea placed on commune roads, hamlet roads and cultural centers of hamlets. Currently, 16/21 hamlets have achieved the model new rural hamlet status.
The model of "Classifying and treating household waste with probiotics" has now shown positive results and has been replicated in 17/21 hamlets, with over 800 households participating. When starting to implement the model, due to the change in the habit of classifying waste in each family while the locality did not have a mechanism for treating sorted waste, the Women's Union coordinated to organize propaganda and provide instructions on how to classify and treat waste for women members. Advised the Party Committee and the government to have regulations on only collecting sorted waste; mobilized funds to buy and give away 500 buckets, bins for sorting waste, and waste treatment yeast for households.
The Women's Union of the commune also donated 200 plastic baskets for women to go to the market, reducing the use of plastic bags. The model has been creating awareness among people about waste classification at home and knowing how to process and utilize organic waste to make fertilizer for plants and crops, reducing costs in agricultural production, reducing the amount of waste released into the environment by 50-60%, saving costs and working days for the waste collection team and for people.
From the effectiveness of the models, more and more members have been gathered and attracted to participate in the organization of the Association, building a strong Association, making important contributions to the socio-economic development of the locality, contributing to building Khanh Cuong commune to meet the standards of an advanced new-style rural commune in 2022. The President of the Women's Union of the commune, Bui Thi Ha, has also received many awards and recognition from the authorities and Women's Unions at all levels. Especially the trust, love and following of the members and women in the commune.
