"We will see how Europe's position will change, given the contacts with the United States, as well as the sudden changes in Russian-American relations in general," Mr. Peskov told Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin in an interview.
Mr Peskov said that French President Emmanuel Macron had expressed his readiness for dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but there had been no real steps towards this goal.
In recent interviews with the Sunday Forum , JDD , The Parisian and West-France newspapers, Mr Macron did not rule out the possibility of dialogue with Mr Putin, saying that this could take place at the "right time".
Mr. Peskov added that recently France has taken a stance in favor of continuing the conflict in Ukraine by all possible means.
Regarding relations with the US, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry also said that relations between Russia and the US have been severely damaged and will take a long time to restore.
"Efforts are being made to start dialogue and restore relations. There is a long way to go because the damage caused to the entire bilateral relations is significant," Mr. Peskov stressed.
