This morning, March 3, in Dong Ha City, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong received a high-ranking delegation of Ubon Ratchathani province led by Governor of Ubon Ratchathani province (Thailand) Supasit Kocharoenyous on a visit and work in Quang Tri.

On January 18, 2024, Quang Tri and Ubon Ratchathani provinces officially established friendly relations. This event is important for the two provinces, marking the beginning of implementing cooperation plans between the two sides in all fields. At the meeting, leaders of Quang Tri and Ubon Ratchathani provinces watched a short report introducing Quang Tri and the province's domestic and international development cooperation plans in the coming time.

Expressing his joy and honor at being warmly welcomed by the leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Governor of Ubon Ratchathani Province Supasit Kocharoenyous informed that immediately after signing the memorandum of understanding to establish friendly relations, Ubon Ratchathani Province directed all levels and sectors to realize the contents of the memorandum. During this working trip, the purpose of Ubon Ratchathani Province is to pay a courtesy visit to the leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee; at the same time, discuss to implement the memorandum of understanding, promote cooperation.

Governor Supasit Kocharoenyous affirmed that Ubon Ratchathani province has prepared conditions to cooperate with Quang Tri province in many fields. In the coming time, after the 6th Friendship Bridge connecting Salavan province (Laos) with Ubon Ratchathani province is completed, the route from Ubon Ratchathani to La Lay border gate, My Thuy port area that Quang Tri province plans to start construction will be the shortest route.

This is a solid foundation for the strong development of the cooperative relationship between the two provinces. The 1.8 million people of Ubon Ratchathani province in particular and the people in neighboring provinces in general are looking forward to the completion of Friendship Bridge No. 6 to have more opportunities to connect, invest and cooperate with provinces in Vietnam.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong thanked the leaders and people of Ubon Ratchathani for their affection for Quang Tri province. At the same time, he said that the province has also directed the relevant sectors to coordinate in developing a plan to realize the signed memorandum of understanding, focusing on strengthening cooperation in the fields of investment, trade and services, tourism, etc.

Therefore, it is recommended that the leaders of Ubon Ratchathani province direct agencies, units and localities to develop a plan to implement the signed memorandum of understanding, bringing cooperation between the two provinces into greater depth and practicality.

Recognizing that the completion of Friendship Bridge No. 6 will help shorten the distance and open up many opportunities for trade and cooperation between the parties, Quang Tri province is also establishing projects to invest in implementing National Highway 15D connecting from La Lay International Border Gate to Dong Ha to National Highway 1 (Eastern direction) and from La Lay International Border Gate to Salavan province, continuing to Pakse of Champasack (Laos) and through Ubon Ratchathani province (Western direction).

For more information about the international workshop on the project of a cross-border joint economic zone between Quang Tri (Vietnam) and Savannakhet (Laos) to be held on March 15, 2024, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong sent an invitation to the Governor of Ubon Ratchathani, his wife and members of the delegation to attend this important workshop to build cooperation and development on the East-West Economic Corridor.
