95 years of founding the Da Nang City Party Committee: Awakening the desire for development to rise up

Today, March 28, marks the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Da Nang City Party Committee, March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025. Over the past 95 years, from the long years of revolutionary struggle to liberate the homeland to the construction and development work, the City Party Committee has always promoted its leadership role, proposed many policies and strategies that are close to and appropriate to the situation; mobilized cadres, party members and people of all walks of life, creating glorious victories.

95 years ago, right after the Communist Party of Vietnam was founded, comrade Nguyen Phong Sac was specially assigned to Quang Nam to direct the establishment of the Party base.

On March 28, 1930, right here, the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, including the Tourane Town Party Committee - now Da Nang, was born. The Central Region Party Committee, based on the number of cadres working in Da Nang, appointed comrade Ho Si Thieu (aka Quang) as Secretary of the Tourane Town Party Committee and comrade Nguyen Van Thong (aka Nam) to join the provisional City Party Committee. At this time, Da Nang had three Party cells and 10 Party members.

Immediately after its establishment, the Da Nang City Party Committee urgently built its base and developed the revolutionary movement; especially from May 1945, when the Da Nang City Party Committee was transformed into the Da Nang City Party Committee, it quickly strengthened its team building, mobilized the people to rise up in an uprising, and took power into the hands of the people on August 26, 1945.

On the momentum of that victory, during the 30 years from 1945 to 1975, under the leadership of the Party organization, the army and people of Da Nang promoted the tradition of bravery and resilience, establishing many glorious feats, with the peak being the milestone of liberating the city on March 29, 1975, contributing significantly to the liberation of the South and national reunification.

The homeland was liberated, the country was unified, the City Party Committee focused on leading the overcoming of difficulties, creatively applying the Party's innovation policy to local reality and creating initial results. In particular, when becoming a city directly under the Central Government in 1997, under the leadership of the City Party Committee, Da Nang continuously made breakthroughs, building the Da Nang brand.

In 2003, it was recognized as a national-level first-class urban area. At the same time, the Politburo issued Resolution 33, followed by Resolution 43, and recently Conclusion 79. These "swords" have truly helped Da Nang make impressive breakthroughs, with spacious urban infrastructure, soaring economic scale; and people's lives have been raised, with a level of more than 4,700 USD/person in 2024, 6 times higher than in 2003.

Based on the political foundation of Conclusion 79, up to now, Da Nang has been "favored" by the Central Government with many truly unique and outstanding policy mechanisms for development; even unprecedented in the country such as allowing the formation of a free trade zone and a regional financial center.

After 95 years of formation, construction and development, up to now, the Da Nang City Party Committee has 12 affiliated Party Committees and nearly 64 thousand Party members. On that foundation, the City Party Committee will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, arouse the desire for development, and be determined to create new breakthroughs in a sustainable direction, joining the whole country in entering a new era, an era of national growth./.
