We are all eagerly waiting for the opening day of the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024, the tournament in which Thuy Loi University continues to be the host of the qualifying round in Hanoi", Mr. Vu Van Trung expressed.

The colors that make the tournament special

In the first season, head coach of the football team of Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports (UPES) Pham Thai Vinh led his students to third place. This is a team that made a strong impression because of the generation of players with very good techniques, the style from the coaching staff to the student players is standard and professional. At first, the participating teams also thought that this was simply a tournament like any other tournament for students, but when the qualifying and final matches began, we all had pleasant surprises."

"The organization and management of the tournament, the communication work, the organization of health care through buying insurance for the players, organizing the delegations to travel, eat, stay, and live in the final round... All of that has made the teams participating in the first Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament have an excited mindset when participating. Nothing is absolutely perfect, but the tournament of Thanh Nien Newspaper has created a big mark in the student football activities of 2023", said the leader of UPES - the elegant head coach who always wears a suit when entering the field.

Leaving the tournament with a different mindset

These days, the football team of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education is urgently practicing, preparing for the qualifying round of the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup.

In the first tournament, Coach Tran Manh Hung's team reached the final round, with many explosive matches. The team had many good players, who were in the best lineup voted by the organizers and sports reporters. Although they could not reach the semi-finals, for the players of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, the Thanh Nien Newspaper football tournament became a beautiful mark in their student life.

"Although it was the first time, the tournament was organized on a very good scale, the communication, organization, and expertise aspects all left a mark not only for the University of Technical Education but also for students nationwide in general. In the first season, our team was lucky to participate in the final round. From this momentum, I and the students were all eagerly waiting for the second season to perform. This year, we let the players practice from the beginning of the school year, so that everything is neat and ready to compete", Mr. Tran Manh Hung shared.

This year, there is a rather regrettable thing for Mr. Tran Manh Hung's team, which is that captain Tan Dat - the young man in the typical lineup of the final round of the first Vietnamese Youth Student Football Tournament - 2023 - has graduated from university and graduated. Saying goodbye to the student football team, also saying goodbye to Ho Chi Minh City to return to his hometown to start a career, sharing with Thanh Nien reporter, Tan Dat said that these days he always feels indescribable excitement when remembering the beautiful memories when the whole team practiced together, preparing for the first season.

"The most memorable thing is that our team united to overcome the qualifying round, entered the final round and played really well. The most emotional match was in the quarter-finals, against Ton Duc Thang University. The cheering atmosphere exploded in all the stands, both teams played with dedication... but we lost 0-1 to the other team, having to say goodbye to the tournament. Every time we talk about that match, we have indescribable regrets. All the matches in the final round of the tournament always leave the audience with beautiful moments...

I was also impressed with the slogan of the tournament: Play Fairly - Win Fairly - Cheer Fairly. That slogan also says that student life is the most beautiful time. Everyone should live their passion to the fullest, so that when they graduate, they will have no regrets," Tan Dat emotionally recalled.

Uniforms and balls for the 2nd Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024

Each player, coach, and team member who left the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament had a different mindset. Whether they were champions or not, each person seemed to have matured and conquered themselves in many ways.

As coach Vo Ngoc Sang said, 2023 is a milestone for the Hong Bang International University football team when the team tried their best, passed the group stage, and won a ticket to the play-off round. Coach Vo Ngoc Sang will continue to participate in the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 as the head coach of the Gia Dinh University football team. Although he leads another team, the spirit of fair play - fair victory - fair cheering will still be spread by him to the players in this team. This is the first year that Gia Dinh University has an 11-a-side football team. In the past time, the team has been practicing hard on physical strength, tactics, playing field... to be ready to participate in the tournament in early 2024.

Head coach Pham Thai Vinh of UPES said that after leaving the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament, UPES players have matured in terms of expertise and qualities. In particular, we must mention the players who have achieved individual titles in the final round. "For example, Minh Nhat, the player who won the title of "Top scorer" in the final round of the first tournament - 2023, has been noticed by a number of second and first division teams and invited to compete. This shows that through healthy and effective playgrounds such as the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament, we have discovered many potential players among students. The expertise of the players can gradually approach the requirements of professional football in Vietnam.
