Lam Thao actively prepares to participate in Hung King's Commemoration Day

In just a few days, the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and the Cultural - Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land in the year of At Ty 2025 will take place with a series of extremely attractive cultural and sports activities and events. These days, Lam Thao district is actively preparing for the tasks and practicing the competition content to achieve the best results, contributing to bringing a meaningful festival season for visitors from all over the world when making a pilgrimage to the Ancestral Land.

Having been selected for many years to participate in the palanquin procession to Hung Temple on the occasion of the Hung King's death anniversary, these days, members of the Hy Son Communal House Management Board, Hung Son Town are reviewing and preparing essential items, palanquin covers, flags, parasols, festive decorations, and selecting forces to practice the formation and rituals for the palanquin procession.

According to legend, Hy Son Communal House was once a place where the Hung Kings often came to enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch soldiers practice. To commemorate the Hung Kings, the villagers of Hy Son built a communal house to worship, with tablets similar to those in Hung Temple, worshiping the 18 Hung Kings and the mountain gods. At the temple, there is a banquet on the same day as the Hung Kings' death anniversary on March 10. In the past, the village also had the custom of carrying a palanquin to the Hung Kings' death anniversary. In addition, there are two banquets at the communal house: on February 6, a ceremony in Spring, and on August 14, a ceremony in Autumn.

Today, Hy Son communal house is still a sacred place of worship that meets the spiritual needs and moral principles of "remembering the source of water when drinking" of the people of the 3 areas 13, 14, 15, so the procession team is also selected from the people of these residential areas, showing the respect and gratitude of the people of the ancient land to their ancestors and the Hung Kings.

Comrade Nguyen Dac Giang - Vice Chairman of Hung Son Town People's Committee shared: To prepare well for the palanquin procession to Hung Temple, the town leaders have issued an implementation plan, established the palanquin procession organizing committee, together with the management board, the Hy Son communal house relic festival committee, coordinated with 3 residential areas to select forces, form formations, practice and participate in the palanquin procession to ensure compliance with the script of the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site, at the same time, develop a detailed plan, assign specific tasks to the person in charge of each formation; check and prepare well the conditions of facilities and costumes for the palanquin procession.

Throughout the activities taking place at the Hung Temple Historical Site on the occasion of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day this year, there are many familiar activities such as: Banh chung wrapping and cooking contest, Banh giay pounding contest, performing arts at the cultural camp, displaying local products...

For the second consecutive year, Xuan Lung commune was chosen as the representative locality of Lam Thao district to participate in the contest of wrapping, cooking banh chung and pounding banh giay, held on April 5 (ie March 8 of the lunar calendar) this year at the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site.

As soon as the district People's Committee had a plan, the commune proactively selected members to participate and established two teams: the Chung cake wrapping and cooking team and the Giay cake pounding team. The selected members are all healthy, skillful, enthusiastic, agile and experienced. Currently, the members of the competition team are actively practicing to be proficient, skillful, creating smooth and harmonious coordination in each stage to have cakes that meet the requirements of time, form and quality with the determination to achieve the highest position, winning the honorable prize of making cakes to offer to the Hung Kings on the main death anniversary next year.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Phuong - Deputy Director of the District Center for Culture, Sports, Tourism and Communications said: The District People's Committee has issued a plan to organize activities to participate in the Hung Kings' Commemoration Anniversary and the Cultural - Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land, in which 100% of communes and towns are mobilized to participate in performing arts at the cultural camp. Phung Nguyen commune is responsible for selecting, organizing training and sending the delegation to participate in the Phu Tho Xoan Singing and Folk Songs Mass Art Festival; Xuan Lung commune selects, organizes training and sends the delegation to participate in the Banh Chung and Banh Giay wrapping and cooking contests... At the same time, the district also actively selects and sends coaches and athletes to participate in traditional sports; selects typical local products to participate in the Phu Tho OCOP Trade Fair and display booths of traditional and typical products at the district's cultural camp.

In particular, Tien Kien commune and Hung Son town, two localities at the foot of Hung mountain, in addition to participating in the palanquin procession to Hung Temple as every year, must also actively promote propaganda and mobilize local people to comply with State regulations on management and protection of Hung Temple Historical Relic Site, Hung Temple National Forest and festival rules and regulations; build a cultural and civilized lifestyle in behavior, welcome compatriots and tourists to attend festival activities; strengthen environmental sanitation, waste collection and treatment during the festival, especially in residential areas adjacent to Hung Temple Historical Relic Site.

As a sacred promise, March comes, millions of hearts of Vietnamese people turn to the sacred mountain of Nghia Linh, to the land of the nation's origin to show respect, burn incense to express gratitude, and commemorate the great contributions of the Hung Kings. With the careful preparation of localities participating in the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day and many unique and attractive activities, we hope to contribute to leaving a good impression of the land and people of Phu Tho in the hearts of visitors from all over the world, so that each Lac Hong descendant will be more proud of their origin and national pride.
