Lam Nguyen makes the audience cry with his mentally ill role

Lam Nguyen decided to play the role of a schizophrenic character with obsessions and inner struggles to challenge himself.

Episode 10 of the program Awakening Passion has just aired on THVL1 channel. This week is the competition from the group of actors including Lam Nguyen, Tra Ngoc, Lam Thang and Viet Trang.

With the theme of famous films and plays, the members are expected a lot because they have many advantages in acting. Therefore, Lam Nguyen chose a heavy script with a complex psychological role.

Lam Nguyen chose to be inspired by the classic work Forensic Science when playing the character Long. This is the story of Long's revenge against his stepmother (played by Hong Trang).

Playing a person with multiple personality disorder, Lam Nguyen put a lot of effort into empathizing with the character when taking on this role. The actor spent many days perfecting the script and living with the character to nurture emotions for the competition night.

It was this effort that helped Lam Nguyen receive many compliments from the judges. Judge Vu Thanh Vinh commented: "I feel that Lam Nguyen has the personality of a director. He has a way of handling stories with many hidden meanings behind them."

Meanwhile, judge Ngoc Son highly appreciated Lam Nguyen's singing voice. "Lam Nguyen sings with a warm voice, her voice is very beautiful and she acts very well," he said.

He received many compliments from the judges.

To create a character with a dark tone, Lam Nguyen revealed that he had to think and understand the character. The actor even learned a lot about this mental illness to perform both mentally and physically. The moments of convulsions, scary eyes and smiles on stage brought real, painful emotions to the audience when watching the performance.

Lam Nguyen said this is also one of the most psychological roles throughout the journey to Awakening Passion .

“After finishing the performance, I still couldn’t escape the role and always had a feeling of suffocation and pain in my mind. However, I am grateful and happy to once again be given the opportunity to express myself in a role like Long because I can’t always live with such a haunting role if I don’t participate in this program,” he said.

With his efforts, Lam Nguyen finished second in this round despite having to compete with strong candidates.
