With an area of no more than 20cm, the tiny ear is considered by oriental medicine practitioners as a "treasure" for diagnosing and treating diseases. The ear is the starting point of all organs and viscera in the body and is the meeting place of all 12 main meridians.

The mysterious mysteries of oriental medicine

Explaining why diseases can be diagnosed and cured through the ear, Dr. Nguyen Van Thang, former head of the pathology department, Thanh Nhan Hospital (Hanoi), said that the senses express the functions of the body through the internal organs, which are displayed on the ear.

The senses include: eyes, ears, nose, mouth and body. These senses are all connected to each other, forming cavities and bridges (called the four bridges and nine orifices), internally communicating with the six internal organs and five viscera through the internal meridian system (the system of meridians and sensory nerves).

These senses represent internal fluctuations and disease states. Oriental medicine practitioners can use these senses to know internal diseases, including the experience of looking at the color of the ear to diagnose and treat diseases.

MSc. Hoang Khanh Toan, a traditional medicine expert, said that in traditional medicine, not only the ears but also the hands, feet, face, etc. all have acupuncture points that, when activated, help the body regulate the balance of yin and yang, preventing diseases throughout the body, but the ears are a very special part.

Why is that? Up to now, no research has been able to explain it satisfactorily. We only know that each part of the body has points of origin (called acupuncture points) located on a number of different parts. When acting on them by methods such as acupuncture, pricking, pressing, local injection, etc., it can adjust and restore the balance of functional activities.

Although the ear has an area of no more than 20 square centimeters, the small auricle contains the projection points of all the organs and viscera in the body and is the meeting place of all 12 main meridians. Since ancient times, our ancestors have used needles and other effects on the auricle, which contains up to several hundred acupoints, corresponding to the organs and viscera in the body.

In the past, our ancestors looked at the color of the ear, used toothpicks or acupuncture needles to detect diseases on the earlobe. When pressing on the earlobe, any point that hurt meant that the corresponding organ was sick.

Nowadays, people use acupuncture point detectors on the earlobe to diagnose and treat diseases. When the probe on the earlobe has low resistance, that place is sick, the device can make a sound or indicate by color.

Both ancient and modern methods of ear examination and diagnosis, if combined with medical history and clinical examination, can achieve 70 - 80% accuracy and thereby effectively treat the disease.

Coordinates the brain, kidneys...

Doctor Nguyen Van Thang emphasized that diseases can be cured through the ears because there are 366 acupuncture points on the ear, equivalent to 366 acupuncture points on the body.

Therefore, doctors who are good at the meridian system and know acupuncture only need to use acupuncture on the acupoints on the earlobe to control and regulate diseases in the internal organs...

The ear is the gateway to the kidney, governs the essence, and connects to the brain and the heart and kidneys. Therefore, treating ear diseases is to regulate the heart and kidneys, water and fire, and adjust the yin and yang in the body so that the five elements can generate each other in the six organs in the body.

Furthermore, treatment through the ear can regulate essence, activate qi and stimulate the spirit. That is, it can coordinate the essence - qi - spirit of the body.

In particular, the ear is the gateway to the kidney. The kidney has a right kidney and a left kidney, one yin kidney and one yang kidney, with the control center being the "mengmen".

Ear massage to prevent and cure diseases

According to Master Toan, acupuncture on the earlobe is mainly effective in pain relief, but to completely treat the disease, traditional medicine still requires holistic measures.

But just by using the fingers of both hands to practice the earlobe massage movements regularly every day is also a whole body movement, has a unique effect of preventing - protecting and improving health. The specific process is as follows:

First, rub your hands together until they are warm, then use your palms to rub both ears in a circular motion from front to back, from top to bottom, about 10-20 times. Use your thumb behind, index finger and middle finger in front, and gently rub from top to bottom, from outside to inside, all the corners of the ear for 1 minute.

Second, use your thumb and index finger to pinch your earlobe, rub it back and forth several times, and finally pull the earlobe down with a relatively strong force so that the entire ear is pulled down, as long as it doesn't hurt.

Cover your ears with both hands and use your index and middle fingers to tap the occipital bone at the back of your head 10 times. Then, press your fingers firmly against the occipital bone and suddenly open your ears with your hands. Repeat this action 10 times.

Then use two index fingers to gently plug both ears, rotate back and forth 3 times then suddenly pull out very quickly, do this 10 times.

Finally, bring your right arm around the top of your head and pull your left ear up 14 times, then bring your left arm around the top of your head and pull your right ear up 14 times.

Massage your ears at least twice a day, preferably before going to bed and when waking up in the morning. This will effectively awaken, regulate, and enhance the function of internal organs, benefit the kidneys, nourish the brain, improve hearing, actively prevent disease, fight aging, and prolong life.

"Human is a small world", the human body is also a universe that hides countless secrets. Our small ears are the same, let's start by massaging the ears, you will gradually discover the wonders of your own body" - Master Hoang Khanh Toan emphasized.
