According to experts, Vietnam's marine economic development in recent times has not been harmoniously linked with social development and environmental protection to develop a sustainable blue marine economy.

The papers submitted and presented at the Workshop, from many perspectives, clarified the significance of the blue economy, the Party's policies, and the State's legal policies to promote and create momentum for sustainable development of the marine economy. The Workshop also focused on in-depth analysis of the current status of marine economic sectors and the development of the blue economy in Vietnam and localities.

The workshop unanimously agreed that in order to continue to concretize the Party's policies and orientations and the State's laws on the management, exploitation and use of marine space in the spirit of Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW, dated October 22, 2018 of the 8th Central Conference, Session XII on the Strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on building Vietnam into a strong maritime nation, rich from the sea, with sustainable development, prosperity, security and safety, it is necessary to have innovative and breakthrough thinking, in line with the global trend in the new situation, in which building a blue marine economy must be considered the foundation.
The Central Propaganda Department and Hanoi National University need to continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to filter the research results of the workshop and proactively announce and disseminate them to agencies and units working on sea and island affairs in order to contribute to raising awareness of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life about the important role of sea and island affairs in the cause of national construction and protection in the new situation; encourage all levels, sectors and localities to actively develop the sustainable marine economy with practical and effective solutions.
