Traveling over 2,775km, 34 artists and staff of the Vietnam Drama Theater brought Vietnamese drama to Laos, spreading good values to the people of both countries. This is also an activity to connect the local Vietnamese community with their homeland, while continuing to nurture the relationship between the two nations to be forever green and sustainable.

At 7pm, the entire auditorium at the Anfamariview Wedding Center, Muong Pach, Xieng Khouang (Laos) was full. The elderly, the young, the Vietnamese, and the Lao were all eager to watch. It is known that this is the last performance in a series of 3 performances in Laos organized by the Vietnam Drama Theater and the Vietnam Cultural Center in Laos.

The show opened with singing, dancing and music performances praising the beauty of the two countries and the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, performed by the Lao National College of Culture and Arts. Next was the play "Bright Eyes" performed by the Vietnam Drama Theater. The show touched the audience's emotions in a unique and touching way. It was inevitable to see the audience shed tears when seeing the image of President Ho Chi Minh on stage in the play "Bright Eyes", tears of emotion mixed with happiness. Ms. Soudala Chanthavithong, a Lao who has studied in Vietnam for many years, said she was very honored and proud to come to see the performance today. She hopes that in the future, there will be many similar activities for people of the two countries to exchange and learn about. At the same time, so that today's generations continue to promote good traditional values so that future generations can follow their example, join hands to protect, preserve and develop the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam to become even better.
The play “Bright Eyes” is about the day President Ho Chi Minh visited the Hanoi School for Disabled War Veterans. From there, it encourages the disabled war veterans, those who have sacrificed a part of their body for the country and the nation, to continue to make efforts to contribute, to work enthusiastically, to produce, to study, to continue to be useful people and to contribute to society. |
“When I heard the announcement that there would be a Vietnamese art program performing in Vientiane, I was really happy. The most impressive thing to me was the play "Bright Eyes". It was the first time I saw such a vivid image of Uncle Ho. Through the play, I realized the lesson that no matter what you are like, you must always move forward, keep going and not fall down. Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater, said that before performing in Laos, the Vietnam Drama Theater had developed and selected quality art programs to bring Vietnamese and Lao audiences good and attractive performances. At the same time, it conveyed the image of Uncle Ho, humanistic values and will to live to the people of the two countries so that they would constantly strive to excel in their studies, work and nurture and connect the close-knit relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
The Art of Heart Connection
In recent years, many plays have been produced to praise the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos. One example is the play "Comrade Viet" written and directed by Meritorious Artist Hongnakhon Thumphala, Department of Performing Arts, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos, which depicts the image of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers fighting on the Lao battlefield as a symbol of will, courage and love in the hearts of the Lao people. The play "Chung mot chien trench" written and directed by Meritorious Artist Hongnakhon Thumphala, Department of Performing Arts, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos, is based on a true story about the image of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fought and sacrificed heroically with their Lao comrades at a frontline at Xiengkhuang, Northern Laos in 1972.

Actors of the Vietnam Drama Theater said that the successful performances were those that attracted a large audience, with the performance venues in Laos packed. After the play ended, in addition to the loud, continuous applause, many audiences still lingered in line to thank and take souvenir photos with the actors. Each time like that, the people of Vietnam and Laos had the opportunity to understand each other better and share their feelings. Each play contributes to educating the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, to appreciate, preserve, foster and develop the special and comprehensive friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, the leader of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism emphasized.
