On the afternoon of March 17, the working delegation of Ca Mau province inspected the site clearance work for the Ca Mau Airport expansion and upgrade project.

After listening to the report of the People's Committee of Ca Mau city and related units on site clearance, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai emphasized that this is a key project and if it is delayed, it will greatly affect the development of the province.

The Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee requested that relevant units in implementing the site clearance work must have a detailed plan, work with the highest spirit, especially ensuring the rights of the people, creating conditions for people to have a better life.

The site must be handed over by April 15 so that the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) can prepare to start the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport.

In the 2021-2030 period, expand the existing passenger terminal of Ca Mau Airport to meet the capacity of about 1 million passengers/year.

"The province prepares the site for construction, not letting investors wait for the site," Mr. Hai noted, adding that regarding sand for filling, Ca Mau province will have a document requesting central ministries and branches to prioritize the project.

The project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation, with an investment capital of about 2,400 billion VND.

The scale of the project is to build a new runway measuring 2,400m × 45m, ensuring the operation of A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft.

The project carries out compensation and site clearance with an area of ​​over 105 hectares in Ward 6 and Tan Thanh Ward (Ca Mau City), affecting 3 organizations and 601 households.

According to the 2021-2030 planning period, the aircraft parking lot south of the runway will accommodate about four parking positions. By 2050, the planning of the aircraft parking lot north of the runway will be synchronized with the new civil aviation area, accommodating about 10 parking positions and have reserves for expansion when needed.

Passenger terminal, period 2021-2030, expand the existing passenger terminal to meet the capacity of about 1 million passengers/year.

Vision to 2050, planning a new passenger terminal in the area north of the runway, with a capacity of about 3 million passengers/year; reserve land for development when needed.

In the 2021-2030 period, the cargo warehouse is planned to the west of the passenger terminal, near the existing aircraft parking lot, with a capacity of about 1,000 tons of cargo/year.

Vision to 2050, planning cargo warehouse east of new passenger terminal, meeting capacity of about 3,000 tons of cargo/year.

Land use planning for the period 2021-2030, total land use demand is about 184.22ha. Vision to 2050, total land use demand is about 244.43ha.
