Attending the ceremony in Hanoi were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang and representatives of ministries, branches and localities.
At Thai Binh, the ceremony was attended by former Politburo member, former Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Ngo Dong Hai.
On the side of Thai Binh province, there were Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Thai Binh province, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province, and representatives of leaders of departments, branches, localities and domestic and foreign enterprises.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the groundbreaking ceremony of VSIP Thai Binh Industrial Park is a testament to the positive development in the relationship between the two countries, especially after Vietnam and Singapore upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. With more than 4,000 investment projects in Vietnam, totaling over 80 billion USD, Singapore is currently the second largest foreign investor in Vietnam. In particular, VSIP Industrial Parks are symbols of sustainable and effective cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister suggested that Singapore continue to expand and upgrade the new generation VSIP industrial parks in a sustainable manner, applying high technology, creating a modern industrial - urban - service ecosystem. This will not only contribute to strengthening economic cooperation, but also attract new generation investment projects, contributing to the socio-economic development of both countries.
Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong also affirmed the important role of VSIP in the bilateral cooperation relationship over the past nearly 30 years. He emphasized the importance of the VSIP 2.0 model, aiming at sustainable, smart development, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and optimizing energy. VSIP 2.0 will not only be industrial parks but also centers of science, technology, and smart cities, aiming at responsible industrial growth and environmental protection.
VSIP Thai Binh Industrial Park project is implemented in An Tan and Thuy Truong communes (Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province), with a scale of 333.4 hectares. Phase 1 is expected to reclaim 278 hectares, the remaining area will be completed in 2025. The project is invested by Vietnam - Singapore Urban and Industrial Park Development Joint Stock Company (VSIP) with a total capital of more than 4,932 billion VND.
VSIP Thai Binh is strategically located, conveniently connected to transportation hubs and logistics networks in the North, helping to attract investors in the fields of high technology, electronic components manufacturing, precision engineering and renewable energy. This will be a low-carbon industrial park, with solutions to optimize energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The groundbreaking ceremony of VSIP Thai Binh Industrial Park continues to affirm the increasingly strong economic cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore. At the same time, the project will create momentum to promote industrial development, attract investment, contribute to economic restructuring and enhance the socio-economic position of Thai Binh province.
Also within the framework of the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong witnessed the signing of important cooperation documents between the two countries. The agreements include cooperation in cross-border e-commerce, digital development and innovation, bilateral retail payments using QR codes, and enhancing cooperation in e-commerce between the two countries.
With strategic vision and sustainable cooperation, VSIP Thai Binh Industrial Park promises to become a bright spot in Vietnam - Singapore economic cooperation, contributing positively to the development of the region as well as the entire Vietnamese economy.
