Groundbreaking Ceremony of Quang Tri Industrial Park Project

This morning, December 15, in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri Development Joint Venture Company Limited coordinated with Quang Tri province to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of Quang Tri Industrial Park Project. Attending the groundbreaking ceremony on the central side were: Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and leaders of ministries, departments and branches. On the Quang Tri province side were: Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Le Quang Tung; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; Standing members of the People's Council, leaders of the People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Provincial National Assembly Delegation; leaders of the province through the periods.

The Quang Tri Industrial Park Project was approved by the Prime Minister on March 23, 2021 with an area of ​​481 hectares and a total investment of VND 2,074 billion. Of which, phase 1 has an area of ​​97.4 hectares and a total investment of VND 504.39 billion. The project is implemented in Dien Sanh town, Hai Truong commune and Hai Lam commune (Hai Lang district).

The project is implemented by Quang Tri Development Joint Venture Company Limited, a joint venture of Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited, Amata Bien Hoa Urban Joint Stock Company (Thailand) and Sumitomo Group (Japan).

The project is expected to boost economic growth and thereby promote the long-term development of Quang Tri province. Quang Tri Industrial Park will be developed over 12 years, including industries: textiles, footwear, packaging, printing, wood processing and furniture, food and beverage and when put into operation is expected to create jobs for 30,000 - 40,000 workers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung emphasized that the Quang Tri Industrial Park project is a key project of the province, which is very important in attracting investment and promoting the potential and strengths of Quang Tri. The Vietnamese Government expects this project to contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of the province, creating an economic center along the East-West Economic Corridor connecting Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.

This is also an industrial park with modern infrastructure, investment projects in the industrial park are oriented towards a green industrial park model, renewable energy with commitments to environmental protection and solutions to support the conversion to clean energy regeneration and reduce waste and emissions, in line with the country's orientation of rapid and sustainable development.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee believes in and highly appreciates the cooperation and investment of leading investors in developing industrial park infrastructure in Vietnam and the region. With the motto: "Business development, Quang Tri development", Quang Tri province is always ready and creates all conditions, accompanies domestic and foreign enterprises and is a friend to investors.

At the same time, we hope that the Government, ministries and central branches will continue to pay more attention and support to Quang Tri province; departments, branches and localities in the province will continue to promote administrative reform, actively coordinate and support investors in attracting and handling procedures for secondary investors in Quang Tri Industrial Park, creating all favorable conditions to achieve the set plans and goals.

After this first phase, the province will accompany the consortium of investors to continue implementing site clearance, investing in infrastructure construction and attracting investment for the next phases to complete the overall project according to the scale approved by the Prime Minister.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Government, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that the groundbreaking ceremony of the Quang Tri Industrial Park Project carried out by three leading international infrastructure investors in Vietnam demonstrated the great efforts and determination of the Government, Party Committee, authorities and people of Quang Tri province and investors.

The project is expected to create an economic center along the East-West Economic Corridor with Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar. Thereby, it will bring new development momentum to Quang Tri province in particular and to the North Central region as well as the whole country in general.

Based on favorable conditions of strategic location, abundant human resources, clean land, clean energy and timely attention and support from all levels and sectors, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung proposed that the Provincial People's Committee soon complete and submit to the Prime Minister for approval the Quang Tri Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; organize the review and adjustment of the General Planning for the construction of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone to serve as a basis for implementing other plans and developing a medium-term public investment plan for the period 2026-2030.

Focus on research to realize Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW dated November 3, 2022 of the Politburo on "Socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the North Central and Central Coast regions to 2030, with a vision to 2045". Actively improve the investment and business environment, enhance the provincial competitiveness index, and best prepare land, infrastructure, and human resources to meet the needs of investors.

Continue to care, support and accompany investors in the process of project implementation, ensuring progress, quality, safety and efficiency. Implement well the strategy of developing housing for workers and ensuring social security.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung also requested that investors fulfill their financial commitments and approved progress, while ensuring safety during the project implementation process, in accordance with the planning of the industrial park and ensuring environmental issues.

Promote the strength of joint ventures and associations, attract more large investors with financial potential, modern technology, environmental friendliness, produce products with high added value, economic efficiency to contribute more to the local budget.

In particular, investors need to share and accompany local authorities and people during project implementation, determined to successfully achieve the set goals.

Within the framework of the groundbreaking ceremony, the leaders of Quang Tri province presented the memorandum of understanding to the secondary investor and the investment certificate; and at the same time performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the project.
