A fire suddenly broke out at a house right at the foot of Ba Son Bridge (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). The Fire Police force promptly rescued and assisted 2 people to escape, including 1 injured person.
At around 3:30 p.m. on April 10, a house on Nguyen Trung Ngan Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) suddenly caught fire. People around the area discovered the fire and tried to put it out, but to no avail.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of District 1 Police mobilized many officers, soldiers and specialized vehicles to the scene to put out the fire.
Many people in the house were on fire and people living nearby panicked and ran out of their houses when they discovered the incident.
People quickly found fire extinguishers and water hoses to put out the fire, but were helpless because the fire was too high and the flames spread quickly.
Ms. H., the owner of the house that caught fire, said that at the time of the fire, there were many people in the house and the fire suddenly broke out on the third floor. The eldest son in the house tried to rush up to put out the fire but was unsuccessful and unfortunately injured his hand.
"On the third floor is the kitchen area, but when the fire broke out, no one was cooking in the house. We don't know why the fire started. Luckily, everyone in the family escaped in time," Ms. H. panicked.
Some people living in the burnt house cried and panicked when they saw the fire spread quickly and many properties burned down.
Some families living next door to the burning house also quickly escaped from their homes, only having time to bring with them photos of their loved ones and pets.
"Hearing the fire alarm, the whole family went out to see that Mrs. H's house was on fire on the third floor. Afraid that the fire would spread, my whole family didn't have time to think much, we just grabbed the portraits of our loved ones and the dog in the house and ran out into the street," said Mrs. T.
District 1 Fire Police mobilized many fire trucks and about 30 soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.
People used shirts and scarves to cover their noses and mouths to avoid being suffocated by smoke caused by the fire.
A section of Nguyen Trung Ngan Street was quickly blocked off and residents were evacuated. Firefighters quickly arrived and contained the fire.
The fire started on the third floor of the house, so the authorities had to use ladders to climb up and spray water from the outside.
By 3:50 p.m., the fire was under control, fortunately there were no casualties. The cause of the fire is under investigation by authorities.
