(Photo: Xuan Khu/VNA) According to the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the war has passed, but the painful images and separation caused by enemy bombs and bullets are still fresh on the faces, in the eyes and in the hearts of many Vietnamese people; there are still unknown heroic martyrs resting far away and not yet able to return to their motherland. All of this has demonstrated the great and heroic sacrifice of the nation and reminded today's generation to take practical and meaningful actions to ease the pain and great loss of the families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and to respectfully pay tribute to the heroic martyrs. Although in Can Gio district there is a Martyrs' Cemetery where every year on holidays and New Year's, all levels, sectors and people come to offer incense, flowers, and organize memorial ceremonies and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs. But somewhere, in the vast Sac forest and under the immense Long Tau river, there are still martyrs whose names have not been recorded and until now, those who are still alive are anxiously searching for them. Therefore, it is required that on the traditional heroic land of Can Gio, there be a construction of the Rung Sac-Can Gio Martyrs' Temple, which is a common house gathering the sacred souls of the martyrs, the ancestors who have contributed to the homeland and the country; a place to fully and seriously perform the rituals of remembrance and gratitude for the merits of those who sacrificed themselves for the people and the country; at the same time, it is also a place to educate the revolutionary cultural traditions for the young generation, a red address, a cultural point to proudly introduce to visitors from near and far, and international friends. "In this sacred ceremony, at the Rung Sac-Can Gio Martyrs' Temple, the Party Committee and people of the City respectfully bow before the souls of the martyrs who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Wishing to forever remember the merits of the heroic martyrs, the mothers who gave birth to, raised generations of heroes and devoted themselves to the Fatherland, the Party Committee and the people of the City vow to unite, promote the tradition of patriotism, strive to build a city with a good quality of life, civilized, modern, and affectionate," emphasized Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai. The Rung Sac-Can Gio Martyrs Temple was built in Can Thanh town, Can Gio district, where the Rung Sac-Can Gio Martyrs Cemetery gathers the graves of 1,221 martyrs, including 1,145 martyrs (from 40 provinces and cities across the country) who sacrificed their lives on this land through two long-term resistance wars for national independence and unification. The Rung Sac-Can Gio Martyr Temple was completed after nearly 1 year of construction, with a total investment of over 50 billion VND, with the main temple having a construction area of over 1,000m2; a statue of President Ho Chi Minh; a statue of Rung Sac Special Forces Soldiers and many other auxiliary items and technical infrastructure.
