On February 2 (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), activities to experience the cultural nuances of Muong and Hoa Binh continued to take place at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
Highlights include performances and exchanges in the area in front of the Kite Building. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about the unique features of Muong culture: Singing Sac Bua, Gongs, Dam Duong, Bong Bong singing... through performances and direct exchanges with Muong artisans.
Muong artists perform folk dances
In the communal house space of the Ede, Tay and H'mong ethnic groups, children will be able to play attractive folk games such as jumping on bamboo poles, playing grass, hitting elbows, hitting mam, and beating phu phu... These are traditional folk games, preserved, kept and practiced by the Muong people during the Spring days.
The space behind the Bronze Drum building is the culinary area of the Muong ethnic group. Here, visitors can enjoy typical ethnic dishes: Pa pinh top, pia trau, ca day khay chili, xoi mau, chicken chili mixed...
The Muong people's kitchen space is recreated at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
According to Muong culinary artists, the Muong people often live in valleys near rivers and streams. In such an environment, the Muong people are attached to nature and create their own ethnic dishes.
Muong people like to eat sour foods: pickled eggplant with fish; pickled mustard greens, pickled papaya with shrimp; pickled cassava leaves with fish; lom leaves cooked with buffalo and beef; beu leaves, sour khao leaves cooked with stream fish; pickled buffalo meat, cow blood... In addition, Muong people also often use chili. Chili is chopped and mixed with fish intestines or heads, boiled blood, chopped intestines of chickens, ducks... to use as spices in many dishes.
Muong ethnic people erect a cotton tree - a symbol of the universe, often used in the Poong Poong festival.
According to Mr. Bui Thanh Binh, Director of the Muong Cultural Heritage Museum, in recent years, the entertainment needs of the people have increased rapidly, especially the young. Therefore, the unit organizing Muong cultural experience activities will create more richness for the Tet playground, while contributing to introducing and promoting Muong ethnic culture to the public of the capital.
In addition to Muong cultural performances, on this occasion, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology also held Spring At Ty 2025 programs with many interesting experiential activities.
