Representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported on combating IUU fishing.
Speaking at the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that in the coming time, coastal sectors and localities urgently implement and rectify the remaining limitations and poor performance.
He emphasized: To effectively combat IUU fishing, the common view is to resolutely end the situation of fishing vessels violating the law. It is necessary to clarify some fishing vessels losing connection to VMS for subjective and objective reasons in order to strictly and properly punish fishing vessels that violate the law. Sectors and units maintain good coordination and information exchange with local authorities in managing and controlling fishing vessels. Thoroughly grasp and fully implement for coastal communes the contents, solutions and key tasks set out in the current urgent period with the goal of overcoming the EC's "yellow card" situation. For Tan Son fishing port, Thai Thuy district needs to speed up investment procedures for building fishing ports according to the set plan. Provincial and district functional sectors create maximum conditions for "3 no" fishing vessels to register and issue fishing licenses. Strengthen inspection and control of fishing vessels entering and leaving ports, resolutely not allowing fishing vessels without proper documents and procedures to go to sea, operate at sea, exploit and effectively use fishing vessel management system software.
