The 19th ASIAD men's football event has officially kicked off with the participation of 3 Southeast Asian teams in the first match taking place on the afternoon of September 19.

On the opening day, the Vietnam Olympic team had a favorable start with a 4-2 victory over the Mongolian Olympic team in Group B.
Quoc Viet (double), Khuat Van Khang and Nguyen Hoang took turns scoring for Olympic Vietnam, while 2 goals for Olympic Mongolia were scored by Temulen and Batmunkh.
This victory helped coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team get their first 3 points, temporarily leading Group B and opening the door to a ticket to the next round.
Meanwhile, the defeat on the opening day will make Olympic Mongolia face many difficulties in the race in Group B.
In contrast to the Vietnam Olympic team, in group E, the Thai Olympic team had a difficult start and struggled to avoid defeat.
In this match, Husain Abdel Kareem put the Bahrain Olympic team ahead 1-0 in the 42nd minute.
It was not until the 90+5 minute that the Thai Olympic team was lucky to get 1 point thanks to Purachet Thodsanit's equalizer.
After this match, the Thai Olympic team will have 2 days to prepare before facing the challenge of the Korean Olympic team, the current champion of the men's football event at the Asian Games.
In Group A, the Myanmar Olympic team also got their first win when they defeated the Bangladesh Olympic team, thanks to Murad's own goal.
This victory also gives Myanmar Olympic team more chances to win tickets to continue. Their next two opponents will be host China and India.
In Group F, Olympic North Korea defeated Olympic Taipei (China) 2-0 thanks to goals from Ri Jo Guk and Kim Kuk Jin.
