Although only established for a short time, Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club (Dong Ha City) has left many outstanding marks in creating a useful playground for those who share the same passion and contributing to the strong development of the table tennis movement throughout the province. The Club has successfully organized many sports tournaments with the participation of hundreds of athletes in Quang Tri and the Central provinces and cities; organized for members of the Club to exchange and compete in many grassroots table tennis tournaments with high achievements.

Bright spot in socialization of table tennis
Coming to watch a practice session of Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club, we felt a friendly and united sports environment with quite fully invested facilities.
Since its establishment in March 2024, the Club has become a "common home" for 80 members of different ages, professions, and localities to practice, improve health, develop talents, and compete in sports. The exciting thing is that the members always support each other to improve their expertise and share their feelings and help each other in difficult times. From there, they join hands and contribute to the development of the Club and make many positive contributions to the development of the Quang Tri table tennis movement, gradually affirming its position and prestige in the Central region.
The outstanding achievement of Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club is the effective implementation of socialized physical education and sports. In 2024, the Club spent nearly 150 million VND to invest in purchasing facilities such as: 10 table tennis tables, practice stands, ball-shooting machines, balls and other tools and equipment; supported more than 100 million VND to send members to compete in 10 table tennis tournaments in the Central region and invited experts, coaches, and famous athletes to guide and help members.
Especially focusing on training and fostering young athletes and students to perfect their techniques, tactics and competitive spirit... Those practical actions have created favorable conditions for members to have a good training environment, attracting table tennis lovers to the Club. Ms. Phan Thi Minh Trinh, from Cam Lo district, said: "I applied to join the Club from March 2024. Training in an environment with modern facilities and active support from good coaches, I have increasingly improved my skills and techniques to confidently participate in many tournaments and achieve some achievements".
In addition to taking good care of its members, Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club also focuses on organizing tournaments to create a playground for those who share the same passion, and at the same time considers this a basis for evaluating the quality of the club's training and competition.
Chairman of Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club Vo Minh Chau said that to overcome the difficulty in organizing the tournament, Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club boldly organized to call for and mobilize more resources from businesses and individuals to join in organizing the tournament in the form of socialization.

In May 2024, joy came to Quang Tri table tennis lovers when Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club received attention and support from the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Dong Ha City, and sponsors to organize the 1st Dong Ha City Open Table Tennis Tournament - 2024. The tournament took place from May 18-19, 2024 in Dong Ha City, gathering more than 200 athletes from the provinces and cities: Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang and Quang Tri. The total cost of organizing the tournament was more than 150 million VND.
After successfully organizing this tournament, the Club continued to successfully organize the 1st Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club Table Tennis Tournament - 2024 in October 2024 with the participation of more than 50 athletes; the total cost of organizing the tournament is about 10 million VND from socialized resources.
Organize the first Nguyen Hue Open Table Tennis Tournament - 2024 in November 2024 with the participation of more than 100 athletes, the total cost of organizing the tournament is about 30 million VND from socialized resources. The success of organizing sports tournaments is a vivid demonstration of the determination of Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club in building and developing the table tennis movement; a place where excellent players and sports lovers from all over Quang Tri gather to exchange and compete.
Success in training young talent
Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club has done a good job of training and coaching young players to develop their talents, becoming the "core" of the Quang Tri Table Tennis Team to compete successfully at the National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024.
With about 30 student-age members practicing regularly, many of whom are excellent players of Quang Tri school sports such as: Phung Phan The Lam, Tran Huu Phong Linh, Tran Nhu Thinh, Vo Van Chinh..., Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club has made a strong mark in the work of nurturing and training young student-age players. To help them have the opportunity to develop comprehensively and become important players of Quang Tri sports, the Club always gives special attention to young athletes.
Coach Le Van Thao shared: “I am very happy to participate in activities and take on the task of training and coaching the children at Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club. Currently, the club has 6 table tennis coaches and a separate training location for young athletes with 1 table tennis table, a ball machine and many other training aids; at the same time, the athletes are regularly sent to training courses and participate in grassroots tournaments in the Central region to gain experience and improve their competitive spirit.
We guide and nurture them to develop their talents and always follow closely to help them compete successfully in tournaments. The club also invites many good coaches and athletes in the country to exchange and share more experiences with the children. The joy and motivation for us is that the children all have sports qualities, have continuous development and have achieved many impressive achievements in national-scale sports tournaments."

The pride of Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club is the young talents who have competed excellently, won many high achievements at major tournaments, notably: tennis player Phung Phan The Lam entered the top 16 best players of the National Youth Table Tennis Tournament in 2023, won 1 gold medal in men's doubles, 1 gold medal in men's singles at the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival - 2024; tennis player Tran Huu Phong Linh won 1 gold medal in men's doubles, 1 bronze medal in men's singles at the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival - 2024...
Vo Van Chinh, a 12th grader at Dong Ha High School, said: “My friends and I always receive the best care and support from the club’s members. Training here helps me develop more comprehensively in terms of physical fitness and cultural studies. In response to everyone’s trust, I have participated in many school sports competitions and won 2 gold medals in table tennis at the 2024 Phu Dong Provincial Sports Festival.”
“The results achieved are a solid foundation for Nguyen Hue Table Tennis Club to continue investing in improving the quality of training young athletes, becoming the core of Quang Tri high-performance sports in the future. The Club focuses on innovating the content and training methods for all members to participate in many sports competitions with high results. Mobilizing social resources to create more useful playgrounds for athletes inside and outside the province to gather in Quang Tri to compete.
“We hope to receive more attention and support from provincial leaders, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Education and Training, businesses and individuals so that the Quang Tri table tennis movement can develop strongly, giving young talents the opportunity to compete in professional tournaments and bring glory to their homeland,” said Mr. Chau.
