Washing machines are heavily discounted, starting at only 3.2 million VND/unit
Grasping the shopping needs of consumers for gifts for women in the family on March 8, according to Nguoi Dua Tin, many electronics supermarkets have launched a series of big promotional programs to thank customers and stimulate shopping.
Among them, washing machines are heavily discounted. There is a washing machine model priced at only 3.2 million VND/unit.

Japanese 'red diamond' 4 million/kg becomes 'hot' product on March 8
Dubbed as a 'red diamond' with a price of up to 8 million VND/fruit weighing 100 grams, Japanese princess strawberries are flooding the Vietnamese market and becoming a "hot" product on March 8. Currently, the price of this type of strawberry is up to 3-4 million VND/kg.
“The price of Japanese strawberries is about 5 times higher than Korean strawberries, and about 20 times higher than the price of Son La’s most VIP strawberries. However, this imported fruit from Japan is still a hot item, chosen by many people as a gift on March 8,” said Ms. Cao Thi My in Tay Ho (Hanoi).
Ms. My explained that this is the peak season for strawberries in Japan, so there are many imported products, so the price has dropped significantly compared to the 6-7 million VND/kg before Tet. This price is less "painful to the wallet", so on March 8, customers flocked to buy. In the past 3 days alone, the demand for gifts on March 8 has skyrocketed, causing strawberries to "run out of stock" continuously.
Coffee prices at all-time high
In 2024, coffee trees in the Central Highlands will be considered "ATMs" for farmers here, helping them earn billions, buy cars, build houses... when this commodity has a fever globally.
This year, coffee prices have continuously broken historical peaks, soaring to all-time highs. Accordingly, the 'ATMs' have once again given out several billion USD to farmers in the Central Highlands.
Sharing with VietNamNet, Mr. Nguyen Van Tao in Dak Mil (Dak Nong) said: "Coffee prices have jumped to 135,000 VND/kg - the highest level ever". If sold at the current price, Mr. Tao can earn nearly 3.4 billion VND, with an estimated profit of more than 2 billion VND.
Airfare prices increase on April 30 and May 1 holidays
A survey by Tuoi Tre Newspaper reporters from airlines and airline ticket agents shows that round-trip ticket prices for domestic flights during the April 30 and May 1 holidays have begun to increase.
For example, the route from Hanoi to Phu Quoc and vice versa during the holiday ranges from 7.5-9 million VND/ticket, significantly higher than the average price outside the peak season.
In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route recorded a sharp increase in ticket prices. In mid-February 2025, Vietjet opened this route for sale at a price of about 900,000 VND/ticket, but now it has increased to 1.5-2 million VND/ticket, with flight times from April 28 to May 3.
Thus, compared to this holiday season last year, ticket prices this year have increased from 500,000 VND to 1 million VND per ticket, depending on the route.
Seafood prices of 'rich people' fall dramatically
Being sought after at sky-high prices, lobster prices suddenly dropped dramatically, leaving farmers in Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa Province bewildered.
On March 6, according to Tien Phong reporters at Da Bac port, Cam Ranh city, there was no longer a scene of refrigerated trucks bustling to buy shrimp, instead there was a gloomy scene of the farming area.
Ms. Trinh Thi Thu (a long-time shrimp farmer in Cam Ranh City) said: Never before have large-sized products been so difficult to sell and have their prices dropped like they are now. Green lobsters weighing 0.3kg/each are purchased by traders at prices ranging from 700,000-750,000 VND/kg, and over 0.3kg/each is priced at 680,000 VND/kg. The type of flower lobster that previously cost around 1.7-2.5 million VND/kg is now priced at 700,000-750,000 VND.
According to Mr. Van Kha (in Cam Thuan ward, Cam Ranh city), before Tet, the price of commercial green lobster was at 800,000 VND/kg, for 3-4 lobsters/kg. Since Tet, the price of lobster has continuously dropped, causing farmers to fall into a difficult situation, with the selling price only 680,000-750,000 VND.
