Samsung is preparing to launch its first tri-fold smartphone later this year. The new smartphone is said to have two hinges that fold inwards, similar to the Flex G concept that the company introduced earlier. Now, at MWC 2025, in addition to the familiar Flex G concept, the Korean company has gone further with a new unique foldable smartphone concept.

Specifically, in addition to the Flex G, Samsung also introduced a unique double-folding smartphone called Asymmetric Flip. This phone model has a similar design to the Galaxy Z Flip but with two hinges that fold inward, placed at different lengths from the top and bottom edges. This leaves a thin part of the screen exposed when the device is folded. This open screen part seems to be designed to take on the Always-on Display function, but it is still unclear what advantages this design has over the current Galaxy Z Flip line.
Strange handheld game console from Samsung
While the Asymmetric Flip design is a bit of a strange one, another product at Samsung’s booth was the foldable handheld gaming console. The device resembles a Nintendo Switch with a hinge in the middle that allows it to fold in half. It has joysticks on both sides that fit snugly into the hollow circular D-pad when folded.

This is an interesting concept that is expected to be brought to market in the future. However, the device may need some improvements, such as reducing the prominence of the display crease to improve the gaming experience. Additionally, Samsung should also consider making the device thicker to improve ergonomics, while also making room for a larger battery to extend the gaming experience without interruption.
