On the evening of November 15, Trieu Phong district solemnly held a ceremony to receive the Second Class Independence Medal and the Certificate of recognition of the district meeting the new rural standards (NTM) in 2023. Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Le Quang Tung; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Dao Manh Hung; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, former provincial leaders; and heroic Vietnamese mothers attended the ceremony.
On the guest side, there were Deputy Chief of the Central Office for New Rural Development Coordination Phuong Dinh Anh; leaders and former leaders of central and local agencies who are children of Trieu Phong hometown; representatives of leaders of Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province; religious organizations, Trieu Phong and Quang Tri hometown associations in provinces and cities in the country; representatives of leaders of communes and wards formerly belonging to Trieu Phong district, communes and towns who are Trieu Phong people who settled in Huong Hoa district.
Land rich in revolutionary tradition
Reading a speech at the ceremony, Secretary of Trieu Phong District Party Committee Tran Xuan Anh summarized the history and heroic tradition in the fight against foreign invaders, national liberation, and the process of building and developing Trieu Phong district.

Trieu Phong is a land with a long history of formation in the process of opening up the South by generations of Vietnamese people. The name Trieu Phong first appeared as a prefecture-level administrative unit under Thua Tuyen Thuan Hoa, recorded in the 10th year of Quang Thuan - 1469, after King Le Thanh Tong re-defined the map of the whole country. The name Trieu Phong means a prosperous and good beginning. Through the ups and downs of history, this land has had many different names, its boundaries changed many times, from Vo/Vu Xuong, Dang Xuong, Thuan Xuong and today is Trieu Phong.
During the reign of the Nguyen lords from 1558 to 1626, Ai Tu - Tra Bat - Dinh Cat was chosen by Lord Tien Nguyen Hoang and Lord Sai Nguyen Phuc Nguyen as the place to establish the headquarters, the capital to govern the entire two regions of Thuan Hoa and Quang Nam.
In Trieu Phong, the first communist organizations of Quang Tri province were born early, and it was the place where the provisional Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee was established on April 21, 1930. At the same time, it was the birthplace of many patriots, intellectuals, and typical revolutionary leaders such as: General Secretary Le Duan, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Huu Duc, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Quynh, General Doan Khue...
After the day the homeland was liberated, the Party Committee and People of Trieu Phong continued to strive, turning challenges into opportunities, exploiting potentials and advantages, mobilizing and effectively using resources, creating a breakthrough in the cause of innovation and development of the district.
Promoting internal strength, mobilizing resources to build new rural areas
In implementing the construction of the new rural area, Trieu Phong district encountered many difficulties and challenges with a low starting point, agriculture accounted for a high proportion in the economic structure, industry, trade and services developed slowly, the poverty rate accounted for 23.1%, the average income per capita only reached 10 million VND/person/year, the average communes only met 4.6 new rural area criteria, the district did not have any criteria that met the standards...

With the participation of the entire political system, the spirit of solidarity, consensus, joint efforts, and active participation of all classes of people, Trieu Phong district has achieved many outstanding achievements in all areas of social life, especially in the cause of building new rural areas.
The district has completed the district planning until 2040, with a vision to 2050. The district's economy maintains a stable growth rate, averaging over 10% per year. The appearance of rural and urban areas is increasingly prosperous, people's lives are constantly improving, rising significantly, the average income per capita in 2023 will reach 68.5 million VND, an increase of 6.8 times compared to 2011, the poverty rate will decrease to 3.3%, a decrease of 6.9 times. The values of tangible and intangible culture are preserved, embellished, exploited and promoted.
The district's strong mark and practical experience in building new rural areas is to promote internal strength, mobilize resources, promote the movement of donating land, trees, labor, ideas, and contributing funds to build new rural areas.
For more than 10 years, the whole district has mobilized people to voluntarily contribute to the installation of lighting lines with a total length of 325 km, donated more than 100,000 m2 of land, hundreds of thousands of working days and mobilized more than 1,600 billion VND, of which people contributed 129 billion VND to build welfare works, cultural institutions, traffic, flower roads, green fences, build model residential areas... Thanks to that, the whole district has had 17/17 communes recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the new rural standards, of which 3 communes have met the advanced new rural standards, completing 100% of the new rural district criteria.
Important premise to move towards model new rural areas, smart new rural areas
Speaking at the ceremony, Provincial Party Secretary Le Quang Tung congratulated and commended the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of Trieu Phong district. The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that the results of Trieu Phong achieving the new rural district standards today are just the beginning, an important foundation to continue building new rural areas at a higher level, towards model new rural areas, smart new rural areas...
To do that, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Trieu Phong district need to continue to promote the revolutionary tradition and achievements gained in the past time.
Focus on implementing a number of key tasks such as: implementing the approved planning of Quang Tri province and the planning of Trieu Phong district for the period 2021 - 2030 with a vision to 2050, promoting the advantages and potentials of the locality, forming a reasonable economic development space and structure in both breadth and depth. Directing the review, supplementation and adjustment of the planning for new rural construction associated with the implementation of the economic restructuring policy, ensuring compliance with the planning.
Continue to focus on leading and directing the implementation of national target programs and programs and projects to continue to maintain and improve the quality of criteria, especially focusing on production and environmental criteria, ensuring sustainability in building new rural areas.
Strengthening the improvement of the investment and business environment, enhancing the competitiveness at the district level, promoting administrative reform, building a streamlined, effective and efficient apparatus, and a team of qualified, competent and prestigious staff to meet the requirements of tasks in the new period.
Continue to build and develop culture and society in harmony with economic growth and environmental protection, creating a driving force for sustainable development. Effectively implement social policies, create jobs, sustainably reduce poverty, and improve people's lives. Maintain and strengthen national defense and security, ensure social order and safety, and promote the role of self-management in residential areas.
Continue to take care of the work of building the Party and the increasingly strong political system; improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization, the quality of cadres and Party members; maintain solidarity and unity within the Party, create consensus among cadres, Party members and the People.
At the ceremony, authorized by the President and Prime Minister, Provincial Party Secretary Le Quang Tung awarded the Second Class Independence Medal and the Certificate of recognition of the district meeting the NTM standards in 2023 to Trieu Phong district.
After the ceremony is an art program with the theme: "Trieu Phong - Faith and Aspiration", the program consists of 3 parts: Trieu Phong Sediments, Land of Spiritual People and Trieu Phong - Song of a New Day.
The art program recreates the history of formation, development, heroic and indomitable fighting spirit of Trieu Phong army and people in two wars of national liberation and the process of building and developing the district.
