DTO - In the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training (DOET) will coordinate with departments, branches, and People's Committees of districts and cities to invest in developing a network of schools and classes for junior high and high schools. At the same time, it will issue documents guiding affiliated units to innovate teaching and learning methods, and encourage students to participate in experiential activities and scientific research.

The province currently has 174 secondary education institutions. The Department of Education and Training has fully and timely implemented regular training content for all staff and teachers of secondary schools, high schools and Continuing Education Centers. The Department of Education and Training issued guiding documents and organized STEM training for managers and teachers across the province. Through the training process, managers and teachers improved their professional capacity to meet the requirements of implementing the new General Education Program.

Implementing the direction of the Department of Education and Training, managers and teachers at secondary and high schools assess students' learning and training capacity according to regulations, ensuring that the number of regular, periodic and final tests meets the requirements of the subject program. In addition, units develop teaching methods and forms suitable for each group of students, and have lesson plans to promote students' self-study, initiative and creativity. Educational institutions flexibly apply STEM education forms such as: STEM lessons, STEM experiential activities, and send teachers to train students to participate in the Science and Technology Research Competition for high school students, closely following the content of the subject program.

In the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training launched a movement to guide students in scientific research and organized a Science and Technology Research Competition for high school students. As a result, 12/12 Departments of Education and Training and 42/42 high schools in the province organized the grassroots competition well, selecting outstanding projects to participate in the provincial competition. The Department of Education and Training directed units to actively deploy information technology applications and digital transformation in innovating methods and forms of organizing integrated teaching in each subject to improve the effectiveness of lectures and increase interaction between students and teachers.

In particular, the Department of Education and Training has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue the Dong Thap Province Education Development Plan to increase resources for education to implement the construction of national standard schools in the province. The units have actively promoted to managers, teachers and staff to realize that quality assessment and national standards are regular tasks to improve the quality of education and affirm the brand and position of the school. Currently, the whole province has 132/175 secondary education institutions meeting national standards. Of which, 95/133 secondary schools have met the standards, an increase of 8 schools compared to the same period last school year. 37/42 high schools have met the standards, an increase of 6 schools compared to the same period last school year.

Secondary education institutions have invested in facilities, teaching equipment and learning materials including: renovating and upgrading classrooms, functional rooms, libraries and school grounds, creating favorable conditions for teaching and learning activities. At the same time, modern teaching equipment such as projectors, interactive boards, computers (currently there are 12,814 computers for students to practice) and teaching support software have been equipped synchronously. Digital learning resources have been expanded, helping students access diverse and rich documents, currently there are nearly 18,000 approved digital learning materials, helping teachers proactively innovate teaching methods and improve students' learning efficiency.

In the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training will continue to direct units to innovate teaching and testing methods and assessments in the direction of developing students' qualities and abilities; proactively review and develop the new General Education Program to ensure that it meets the requirements of innovation and improves the quality of education, especially for grades 9 and 12; and prepare well for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam according to the new plan.
