Over 900 million VND to renovate Long An stadium

TPO - On June 30, information from the Long An Sports Training and Competition Center said that immediately after the end of the National First Division tournament, Long An Stadium will renovate a number of items to meet the requirements of sports training and competition.

According to Director of Long An Sports Training and Competition Center - Nguyen Bao Hoan, based on the actual degradation of Long An Stadium as well as the recommendations of the sports industry, the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Civil and Industrial Works of the province has approved the dossier to renovate items of Long An Provincial Stadium with an estimated value of more than 900 million VND.

Long An Provincial Stadium will have its grass field, functional areas, athletes' resting areas, etc. renovated at a cost of more than 900 million VND.

Accordingly, Long An Stadium will renovate the grass field, functional areas, athletes' resting areas and repair some other items to ensure the requirements of organizing and practicing sports.

The renovation of Long An Stadium is only temporary while waiting for the construction of a new stadium in the planned provincial sports complex.

Long An Provincial Stadium, nearly 75,000 m² in area, was built nearly 40 years ago, completed and put into use in mid-1984 with a capacity of 25,000 seats in time to serve the SKADA football tournament - the socialist countries' army football tournament. This was considered the largest stadium in the South at that time and was the pride of Long An football fans.

After a period of use, many items of the stadium have seriously degraded, ensuring only about 10,000 seats. In addition to organizing tournaments and major sports and physical training activities of the province, Long An Stadium is also a training and common place for talented athletes of the provincial Sports and Physical Training and Competition Center.
