Regarding the more than 700 tourists stranded on Nam Du Island due to the storm, Mr. Bui Quoc Thai said that this morning (July 16), he had mobilized 4 high-speed boats from Rach Gia port to Nam Du Island to bring all tourists, officials on business trips and residents to the mainland.

Being stuck on the island at an unexpected time has increased the cost of food and accommodation for tourists. In this situation, motels and hotels on Nam Du Island have proactively reduced room rates by 30-50% to support tourists since July 14. In addition, the motel and hotel owners have also allowed tourists to use their family's food, supplies and kitchens to cook and drink for free.

On the morning of July 14, due to the influence of a tropical depression, heavy rain and strong winds were caused over a large area. The wind reached level 7, gusting to level 8, and waves were 2-3 meters high. Authorities ordered ships, ferries entering and leaving Phu Quoc Island, and fishing boats to stop operating.

Thousands of people and tourists were stranded on Phu Quoc and Nam Du islands. Some tourists had to buy expensive plane tickets to get to the mainland due to urgent work. By the afternoon of the same day, the storm on the Phu Quoc - Ha Tien sea route had cooled down and ferries on this route were operating again.
