More than 122,000 candidates refused to enter university

On the evening of August 27, the Ministry of Education and Training announced statistics on the first round of university admissions in 2024 along with the number of candidates confirming their enrollment.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the number of candidates admitted to university in the first round of 2024 on the system is 673,586, an increase of 58,116 candidates compared to 2023.

However, the number of candidates confirmed admission was 551,479, accounting for 81.87% of the total number of candidates admitted in the first round.

Thus, there are up to 122,107 candidates who refused to enroll in university even though they were admitted to university, accounting for 18.13%.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, August 27 is the last day for candidates who have been officially admitted to universities and colleges of preschool education in the first round to confirm their admission online.

This admission confirmation is done on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission system according to each candidate's personal account. After online confirmation, candidates can complete the admission procedures directly at the training institutions.

If by 5:00 p.m. on August 27, candidates do not confirm their admission on the system, it will be considered as refusing admission.

Dozens of schools have announced additional admissions with thousands of quotas, including top universities.

The School of Business and Administration, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is recruiting 70 additional students, including 60 students in the Administration and Security majors and 10 students in the Business Administration and Technology majors.

Candidates wishing to apply to the school must pass the preliminary round, including profile and essay assessment; emotional intelligence (EQ) assessment. The school considers the high school graduation exam results for candidates with a score of 22 or higher with the combination A01, D01, D07, D08, in which the English subject is 6 or higher or has an IELTS of 4.5 or equivalent or higher.
