The driver, a resident of Binh Thuan, said, "I made a wrong turn."

(NLĐO) - Explaining why he drove against the traffic on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, the driver said that instead of turning right, he mistakenly turned left.

On March 9th, representatives from Highway Patrol Team No. 6 under Department 6 of the Traffic Police Bureau ( Ministry of Public Security ) announced that they had issued a citation to a driver for driving against the flow of traffic on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway.  

A black car was driving against the flow of traffic on the highway.

The offending driver has been identified as Mr. TVT (46 years old, residing in Binh Thuan province).

Mr. T. was issued a traffic violation ticket by the police for driving against the flow of traffic on a one-way street. According to regulations, Mr. T. will be fined between 18 and 20 million VND and have 4 points deducted from his driver's license.

Mr. T. stated that upon reaching the end of the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway, instead of turning right towards Dau Giay to reach Bien Hoa City, he mistakenly turned left towards the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.

Having missed the turn, Mr. T. drove against the traffic for about 200 meters before being reminded by drivers going in the correct direction. After that, Mr. T. returned to the correct turn.

Mr. TVT is working with the police.

Earlier, at around 10:00 AM on March 8th, people traveling on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway were surprised to see a driver behind the wheel of a car driving against the flow of traffic on the expressway, heading towards Binh Thuan province. Notably, the driver even flashed his lights to signal to vehicles traveling in the correct direction to "get out of the way".
