The workshop "Developing products for the souvenir and tourist gift market with professionalism, uniqueness, and local identity of the ancient capital" continued its second discussion session with the topic "Solutions for research, design of production models, development of Ninh Binh tourist gift products and promotion mechanisms and policies".

Comrades: Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine; Pham Quang Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the National Tourism Administration; Tran Song Tung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the discussion session.

From the perspective of a business in the tourism sector, Mr. Nguyen Van Truong, Director of Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise, discussed the potential and strengths of Ninh Binh in tourism development, clearly stating the limitations in the development of tourism products in general and tourism souvenir products in particular. At the same time, the representative of Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise also proposed that the province should pay more attention to issuing policies for tourism development of the province; planning locations for displaying and selling tourism products and souvenirs; promoting organizations and individuals to be creative in souvenir products... This is an important component in tourism development towards building a Millennium Heritage City.

On the business side, some items will be carried out such as: restoring ancient village models, creating prehistoric roads. However, the investment needs time, and requires the mobilization of capital resources combined between the Central, local and business to maximize the exploitation of cultural and historical values.

In addition, localities also need to support organizations and individuals in building a system of conformity certification and conducting a comprehensive review of the current status of suppliers as well as market demand to develop appropriate policies and development plans for each stage.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Khac Su, Vietnam Institute of Archaeology proposed the idea of ​​designing "heritage souvenirs" in Trang An from prehistoric relics.

Proposing to develop tourist souvenirs and gifts from prehistoric and historical relics and artifacts of Trang An, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Khac Su, Vietnam Institute of Archaeology, said that it is necessary to understand the concept of heritage souvenirs as products created by humans based on the unique and outstanding characteristics of cultural heritage, to be used as gifts and souvenirs for tourists, products that help tourists own, experience or recall a historical period of nature (for natural heritage) and society (for historical - cultural - archaeological heritage) in a certain heritage area. Heritage souvenirs have an important meaning in contributing to promoting, spreading, preserving and developing heritage values; enhancing pride and awareness of heritage conservation of local communities.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Khac Su also proposed the idea of ​​designing "heritage souvenirs" in Trang An from prehistoric relics: jewelry made of sea snail shells; jewelry made from Oc Tien; portraits of prehistoric people in Trang An; prehistoric pottery, Nhat Tru pagoda; Buddhist scripture columns of the Dinh dynasty; Dinh dynasty coins of the 10th century...

Regarding the content of connecting the community with the world heritage of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex through promoting the heritage brand for the value of local products and services, Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Huong, Head of the Cultural Department, UNESCO Office in Hanoi, said: The activities of building and promoting the brand of Ninh Binh province can focus on the following three priorities: First, perfecting the local brand marketing strategy of the province associated with the Heritage Site to clearly identify specific tourism products to focus resources on development.

Second, build and develop unique gift products that aim for sustainable values ​​through the creation of eco-labels.

Third, with many rare and endemic animal species found only in Ninh Binh, stakeholders can consider many options in developing creative and youth-oriented iconic images.

At the workshop, Dr. Truong Sy Vinh, Deputy Director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research, made a number of recommendations to develop professional and unique tourism gift and souvenir products, which is to create an open environment to promote businesses trading in gifts and souvenirs, ensuring product quality and safety; building and perfecting OCOP products associated with the purpose of tourism development.

Along with that, there should be policies and solutions to support and promote production entities to develop products, organize production associated with planning and developing raw material areas; train quality human resources at tourist destinations; there should be investment in product development strategies coupled with marketing strategies; build links and connections to develop distribution channels for specialty products, tourism gifts and OCOP products associated with tourism businesses.
