Conference on promoting investment in agriculture and rural areas in the Central Highlands in 2024

On the morning of October 30, in Pleiku City (Gia Lai Province), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the People's Committees of the Western provinces to organize a conference to promote investment in agriculture and rural areas in the Central Highlands. The conference was connected online to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development under the chairmanship of Minister Le Minh Hoan.

Attending and chairing the Conference in Pleiku city were Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Canh; Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen; Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep; Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Thap. The Conference was attended by leaders of departments and branches of 5 provinces in the Central Highlands and more than 100 associations, enterprises and cooperatives.

At the conference, delegates informed about the advantages, potentials, mechanisms and policies to encourage local investment in the agricultural sector of the Central Highlands provinces; shared experiences, built close and sustainable links to promote the development of Central Highlands agriculture in a modern and sustainable direction.

In addition, businesses are also interested in the synchronization of mechanisms and policies in the local management hierarchy; publicity, transparency and equality among investors, the impartiality of staff; procedures when participating in investment; the level of safety when participating in investment in the locality...

Speaking at the conference, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan emphasized: The Central Highlands is a large area, the value space of the Central Highlands is very large, not only limited to red basalt soil, industrial crops... Therefore, localities and enterprises need to rethink to develop widely throughout the Central Highlands, not just within the framework of a locality; need to exploit in the direction of multi-value, agricultural ecosystem. On the other hand, enterprises are not only investors but also consultants for localities to open up new value spaces for agriculture in the Central Highlands; together with localities to solve the livelihood problem for ethnic minorities. However, the Central Highlands currently has problems with land, so localities need to sit down with investors to clarify responsibilities, and work together to solve them; any problem beyond the scope of the locality should be submitted to ministries and branches for consideration and resolution...

Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Canh presented investment policy decisions to enterprises.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committees awarded 06 decisions approving investment policies to enterprises; 02 minutes of agreement on research and survey between the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and enterprises; and 02 memorandums of understanding on cooperation between cooperatives and enterprises.
