(GLO)- On the morning of June 28, in Pleiku City, the Women's Union of Gia Lai Province organized a program to honor "Godmother - Lighting up the future"; launched a painting contest "Colors of Peace" on the occasion of Vietnamese Family Day.

Currently, the province has more than 3,700 orphans. Of these, 319 children (23 orphans due to Covid-19) are directly sponsored by the Association at all levels or connected with groups, individuals, and philanthropists to support and help. The godmothers pay attention, care, and encourage the spirit in the face of the great losses that orphans have to bear early. They are close to the orphans like mothers, helping them study at home, learn how to take care of themselves, and support them with monthly essential necessities.

Some women do not have the conditions to be close and take care of them, but they accompany the women's association to provide long-term financial support until the children turn 18. Many women also become a bridge to call for support from philanthropists and the whole society to join hands to contribute so that orphans can live in love and care, and have the opportunity to rise up in life.

At the ceremony, Ms. Ro Cham H'Hong - President of the Provincial Women's Union emphasized the humane significance of the "Godmother" program launched by the Vietnam Women's Union.
