Many people are interested in Ho Chi Minh City - the "second most expensive city in the country", how much tuition do students at all levels have to pay?
On January 3, 2024, the Department of Education and Training issued Document No. 14 on implementing Resolution No. 36 of 2023 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and providing guidance on the collection and use of tuition fees for the 2023-2024 school year of educational and training institutions.
Resolution No. 36 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council is a resolution on a special policy to support tuition fees for preschool children, public and non-public primary school students and continuing education students in the city for the 2023-2024 school year. This is also a special social security policy of Ho Chi Minh City to share difficulties and reduce the financial burden on parents, students and learners in the context of the city's economic difficulties, contributing to encouraging and with the goal of "ensuring that no student drops out of school due to economic conditions and cannot pay tuition fees". At the same time, it ensures policies on exemption, reduction, support of learning costs and tuition support in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 81/2021 of the Government.
According to the guidance document of the Department of Education and Training, for the 2023-2024 school year, educational institutions in Ho Chi Minh City are allowed to apply tuition fees according to the provisions of Clause 2, Article 2 of Resolution No. 16/2022 of the People's Council (applicable to the 2022-2023 school year and the following school years under Decree No. 81/2021 of the Government, and at the same time apply the special tuition support policy according to Resolution No. 36/2023 of the People's Council for the 2023-2024 school year).
Primary school students return to school for the 2023-2024 school year
Specifically, tuition fees for each level of education in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2023-2024 school year are as follows:
Kindergarten class: Children in group 1 pay tuition of 200,000 VND/month and children in group 2 pay tuition of 120,000 VND/month.
Kindergarten: Children in group 1 pay 160,000 VND/month; children in group 2 pay tuition of 100,000 VND/month.
Elementary school students are exempt from tuition fees.
Secondary school students are supported 100% of tuition fees, students do not have to pay.
High school students in group 1 pay tuition of 120,000 VND/month; group 2 pay 100,000 VND/month.
High school continuing education students pay 120,000 VND/month; group 2 pays 100,000 VND/month.
Group 1 is students studying at schools in Thu Duc City and districts: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan.
Group 2 is students studying at schools in the districts: Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio.
