(Dan Tri) - On the afternoon of September 20, the plane carrying Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and his wife landed at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), beginning an official visit to Vietnam.
At the invitation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Crown Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko of Japan will pay an official visit to Vietnam from September 20-25. The visit takes place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan relations (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023).
According to the schedule, the Crown Prince and his wife will attend the official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace on the morning of September 21, then hold talks with the Vice President and the two sides will attend the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan relations at the International Convention Center.
On September 22, the Crown Prince of Japan will meet with President Vo Van Thuong and attend a banquet; then attend the premiere of the opera Princess Anio that evening.
During his 5-day visit to Vietnam, Crown Prince Akishino and his wife will have activities in Da Nang and Quang Nam.
The Vietnam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership has developed strongly and comprehensively in recent years, with a high level of political trust. Exchanges and contacts at high levels and across channels have been vibrant. Senior leaders of the two countries have maintained regular visits and contacts at international and regional forums.
Currently, Japan is the largest provider of official development assistance (ODA), second in labor cooperation, third in investment and tourism, and fourth in trade.
Cooperation in other areas such as defense, security, health, agriculture, science and technology, digital transformation, education and training, climate change response, etc. has been actively implemented. The two sides are closely and effectively coordinating and supporting each other at multilateral forums and on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
This is the first official foreign visit of Crown Prince Akishino and the Princess after the Covid-19 pandemic, and also the first visit to Vietnam by the Japanese Royal Family after 6 years since the visit of the King and Queen of Japan in 2017.
