TPO - According to Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le, the session will conduct supervision and questioning of the Director of the Department of Information and Communications, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Tan District and carry out personnel work.
On the morning of July 15, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council opened its 17th session (regular session in mid-2024), discussing and giving opinions on many important contents. The session is scheduled to take place from July 15 to 17.
Speaking at the opening of the session, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council said that the City People's Council will consider, comment and decide on important contents.
In particular, focusing on objectively and comprehensively assessing the economic - cultural - social and national defense and security situation in the first 6 months of 2024, directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2024. At the same time, delegates will focus on discussing and considering passing resolutions related to the fields of economy, urban, culture - society, education... in the area.

The meeting will also conduct direct supervision through questioning according to regulations for Director of the Department of Information and Communications Lam Dinh Thang and Chairman of Binh Tan District People's Committee Nguyen Minh Nhut. The meeting will also carry out personnel work.
This session will review and give opinions on adjusting the budget revenue and expenditure targets in the 5-year financial plan for the period 2021 - 2025; the list of land acquisition projects for socio-economic development for the national and public interest; regulations on revenue items and collection levels, revenue and expenditure management mechanisms for services serving and supporting educational activities of public educational institutions from the 2024 - 2025 school year; the Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program for the period 2021 - 2025; regulations on tuition fees for public preschool and general education from the 2024 - 2025 school year and subsequent school years...
Assessing the socio-economic situation in the first half of 2024, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le said that although the world situation continues to develop in a complicated and unpredictable manner, affecting socio-economic development, the city's policies and implementation solutions have created changes and achieved some positive results.
Accordingly, the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first 6 months is estimated to increase by 6.46% over the same period in 2023, the number of newly established enterprises is estimated to increase by 9.6% in quantity; state budget revenue reached 54.77% of the annual estimate, up 16.02% over the same period; the job creation rate increased by 2.44%, the new job creation rate increased by 1.55%...

Along with that, key works and projects have had many positive movements, legal problems have been focused on finding ways to resolve them to initially implement them, bringing encouraging results such as the groundbreaking of urban railway line No. 2, the Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Nuoc Len canal renovation project; construction during Tet of key traffic works such as the investment project to build Ring Road 3; An Phu traffic intersection; upgrading and expanding National Highway 50; the underpass at Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection; the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa.
These projects will move to a new phase. “That is the phase of synchronous construction of all construction packages, speeding up disbursement and construction progress to soon complete works serving the people,” Ms. Le emphasized.
Despite achieving many important results, it is forecasted that in the last 6 months of 2024, the city will continue to face many difficulties and challenges that require focusing on removing obstacles, bottlenecks, and obstacles to promote growth.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council requested delegates to focus on studying and discussing carefully to have quality contributions and solutions for each content that Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen directed at the Conference of the City Party Executive Committee in mid-June, along with new legal documents passed by the National Assembly,... in order to open up many new opportunities, creating momentum to promote socio-economic development in the last months of the year and many years to come.
