Singing without permission, Phuong Linh publicly apologizes to Van Mai Huong

At a recent event in Hanoi, singer Phuong Linh sang the song June Rain by singer Van Mai Huong and received many responses from the audience.

There were many noisy comments and comparisons between Phuong Linh and Van Mai Huong to see who performed the song better. In addition, fans also criticized Phuong Linh for singing the song without permission.

As soon as she saw negative feedback from the audience, on the morning of May 27, Phuong Linh spoke up on her personal page: "I am very sorry to you - singer Van Mai Huong and musician Hua Kim Tuyen. I knew this song was your exclusive but still insisted on singing it on stage in Hanoi. The first mistake was mine, stubbornly knowing but still doing it because I liked the song so much."

The singer confirmed that the negative comments about Van Mai Huong on social media were intentionally caused by anti-fans to create tension. She had not read those comments but was only informed about the incident by her manager, so she had to apologize immediately.

In her apology, Phuong Linh further explained: "I do not have the Facebook accounts of Van Mai Huong and Hua Kim Tuyen so I cannot tag them. I apologize for arbitrarily pairing the band and performing this song at the event in Hanoi. I sincerely apologize to the two of you and promise not to perform this song again."

Besides, Phuong Linh admitted that Rain in June sung by Van Mai Huong is the best song written by musician Hua Kim Tuyen. She compared Rain in June to Van Mai Huong's song, similar to Strange Wind , which is her "default" song because many people know it even though she did not buy the exclusive rights.

At the end of her apology, Phuong Linh emphasized the difference between written and spoken language, hoping for fans' understanding. She said her management would work with all parties to avoid litigation.

Speaking to VietNamNet, musician Hua Kim Tuyen said that this is Van Mai Huong's exclusive song, so the two sides should resolve it themselves. Van Mai Huong's side has yet to officially respond to the incident.
