Thousands cheer on boat race connecting island districts

On March 22, Co To district organized a traditional boat racing festival to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the district's founding (March 23, 1994 - March 23, 2024), connecting island districts nationwide.

The racing teams competed.

There are 6 racing teams from island districts in 5 provinces and cities participating: Con Dao (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province); Ly Son (Quang Ngai); Phu Quy (Binh Thuan); Bach Long Vi (Hai Phong); Van Don and Co To (Quang Ninh). The teams are divided into 2 groups, competing in the qualifying round.

The boat racing festival between island districts in Co To is not simply a sports competition but also a place to demonstrate the spirit of solidarity and mutual support of island districts and cities nationwide.

Crowds of people and tourists cheered for the racing teams.

After dramatic and exciting rounds of competition, the teams of Van Don, Bach Long Vi, Ly Son and Phu Quy entered the final round.

In the final results, Van Don team won first prize; Bach Long Vi team won second prize; Ly Son and Phu Quy teams ranked third; Co To and Con Dao won consolation prizes.

The organizers awarded prizes to the teams with the highest achievements.

Before that, the festival organizing committee and athletes attended the national flag raising ceremony and offered incense at the special national relic site of President Ho Chi Minh Memorial on Co To Island.
