U17 Vietnam ranked above Indonesia in a statistic at the Asian tournament

Recently, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) homepage announced the list of players of 16 teams participating in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship.

Vietnam U17 actively prepares for U17 Asia 2025.

The list published by AFC includes data on the average height of each team.

Accordingly, U17 Vietnam has an average height of 174.8cm and ranks 13th among the teams participating in the tournament.

In the list of U17 Vietnam players participating in this tournament, there are 6 players who are 1m80 or taller, including 2 goalkeepers Hoa Xuan Tin, Nguyen Van Thang Long, defender Le Quang Truong, midfielder Tran Van Dat and striker pair Tran Gia Bao, Nguyen Thien Phu.

Although the height of Vietnamese players has improved significantly in recent years, compared to the continent, we are still at a disadvantage.

At this tournament, U17 Vietnam only has an average height better than 3 teams: Oman (174cm), Indonesia (173.1cm) and Yemen (172.4cm).

Notably, at the national team level, Indonesia is one of the tallest teams in Asia.

In the recent match against Australia in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, the Indonesian team had an average height of 183.1cm.

But at the national team level, most of Indonesia's players are of European descent. So it is understandable that they are tall.

Meanwhile, the current U17 generation of Indonesia is mostly made up of native players. Only Mathew Ryan Baker is a naturalized player.

At the 2025 AFC U17 Championship, Iran is the team with the best average height (182.2cm). The following teams are South Korea (180.6cm), Uzbekistan (180.1cm), and Australia (179.5cm).

According to the schedule, on April 4, U17 Vietnam will play the opening match of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship against U17 Australia.
