South Korea: Tourist dies after falling off cruise ship

Although he was rescued and taken to the hospital, this person did not survive.

The Yonhap news agency, citing information from the Korean Coast Guard and the Gangwon Fire Department, said the unfortunate passenger was over 65 years old. Two crew members jumped into the sea to rescue the victim. One person was later taken to hospital for treatment of hypothermia.

The accident occurred just 30 minutes after the cruise ship departed from Jumunjin port on the east coast.

The South Korean Coast Guard is investigating the incident based on witness reports.
