Dermatologist Liu Xiuli said that autumn is often the time when hair loss is most likely and most severe due to the temperature difference between day and night and the dry weather. To preserve your hair, Dr. Liu suggests that you follow these tips.
Note when washing hair
Experts recommend brushing your hair before shampooing to remove tangles and reduce damage to your hair during shampooing.
When hair is wet, you should limit brushing, rubbing your hair or scratching your scalp vigorously, which can damage hair follicles and scalp. You should also pay attention to the water temperature when washing your hair, avoid using water that is too hot, water temperature equal to room temperature is considered ideal.
After washing, do not wrap your hair in a towel for too long. Experts recommend using a towel to absorb excess water from your hair, avoid twisting or wringing your hair, and then blow-drying. Prioritize drying the roots first, then the ends, and choose a warm or cold temperature when drying.
Note on eating and drinking
Dr. Liu emphasized that a nutritious diet plays a huge role in hair health. Experts suggest adding foods such as spinach, eggs, peas, beef, and seafood to the menu to provide enough protein and nutrition for hair growth and strengthen hair follicles.
If you are following a weight loss diet, you should also focus on getting enough nutrients for your body, avoiding being too strict with any one group of nutrients.
