The industrial and construction sector in the first quarter is estimated to have increased by 5.54%, contributing 0.96 percentage points to the GRDP growth. The industry has strived to grow positively since the first month of the year with the goal of boosting production and product consumption. After the Lunar New Year holiday, 100% of enterprises in the city reopened their factories, quickly started production, ensured domestic and export orders, and continued to prepare for orders in the second quarter of 2025.
The estimated added value of the industrial sector in the first quarter increased by 5.36% (in the first quarter of 2024, it increased by 5.09%), contributing 0.63 percentage points to the overall growth. The index of industrial production (IIP ) in the first quarter alone increased by 4.3% over the same period in 2024, of which the IIP in March increased by 5.2%.
Meanwhile, service sector growth in the first quarter of 2025 is estimated at 8.34%, contributing 5.82 percentage points to GRDP growth.
During the same period, the capital's export turnover was estimated at 4.323 billion USD, up 2.6% over the same period last year, of which the domestic economic sector reached 2.215 billion USD, down 10.5%; the foreign-invested sector reached 2.108 billion USD, up 21.4%.
Some items with increased export turnover compared to the same period include machinery, equipment and spare parts reaching 622 million USD, up 16.5%; computers, electronic goods and components reaching 593 million USD, up 3.7%; means of transport and spare parts reaching 567 million USD, up 19.5%...
In the first quarter of 2025, Hanoi attracted 1.415 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI), an increase of 49.5% over the same period in 2024. Of which, 81 new projects were registered with a capital of 29 million USD; 34 projects increased capital with 1.165 million USD; 83 foreign investors contributed capital and purchased shares with a capital of 221 million USD.
In the first quarter, the city granted certificates to 5,600 newly established enterprises, with registered capital of VND44.6 trillion; down 18.7% in the number of enterprises and down 38.1% in registered capital compared to the same period last year.
There were 3.9 thousand enterprises resuming operations, up 5%. In addition, there were 14.6 thousand enterprises registering to temporarily suspend operations, up 18.1% and 1.4 thousand enterprises dissolved, up 25.5%.
