Hanoi creates momentum for key industrial products

Developing industrial products with competitive advantages

Recently, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade issued a Plan to implement the Project on developing key industrial products of Hanoi city in 2023.

The project aims to effectively implement the goals and tasks of developing key industrial products set out in the 2021-2025 period in Hanoi and the Hanoi Party Committee's Plan to implement Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW dated March 22, 2018 of the Politburo on orientations for building national industrial development policies to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Accordingly, the Project focuses on developing industries and industrial products with competitive advantages, the ability to deeply participate and contribute high added value to the global production and supply chain; having fundamental significance, high spillover effects on other production and economic sectors, using clean and environmentally friendly technology.

Enhance the competitiveness of the city's key industrial products, promote cooperation and production linkage between enterprises producing key industrial products in Hanoi and enterprises of other provinces and cities in the country and abroad.

Hanoi has organized groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of technical infrastructure for 19/43 industrial clusters that have been decided to be established in the 2018-2020 period, creating a platform to attract domestic and foreign enterprises to invest in production and business development; organizing activities to connect enterprises to participate in domestic and international production, business and supply chains; connecting Hanoi enterprises with many countries around the world.

Up to now, the work of developing key industrial products in the city has achieved a number of positive targets: Attracting the participation of 20-25 enterprises with about 30-35 products recognized as key industrial products of the city in 2023, of which 10-15 products are recognized for the first time.

According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, up to now, the city has 196 products of 132 enterprises which are the city's key industrial products in the following industries: mechanical engineering, manufacturing; electricity, electronics; information technology; textiles, footwear; agricultural and food processing industry; chemical, rubber, plastic, pharmaceutical industry; construction materials industry; handicrafts.

Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Acting Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that in the first 9 months of 2023, the industrial production index increased by 3.93% over the same period, with significant contributions from key industries. The whole city attracted 2,526 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI), specifically: 305 new projects were registered with a capital of 270 million USD, 130 projects increased investment capital with 215 million USD, 252 foreign investors contributed capital and bought shares with a total of 2,041 million USD. There were 22.9 thousand newly registered enterprises, an increase of 2% over the same period last year. Registered capital reached 226.9 thousand billion VND.

According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen, the city always identifies key industrial product manufacturing enterprises as playing an important role in the development of the capital. To support key industrial product manufacturing enterprises, Hanoi commits to always accompany and remove difficulties, create favorable conditions in terms of production premises, invest in building technical infrastructure, and provide capital incentives, etc. so that enterprises have the opportunity to develop and contribute to the overall development of the city.

Hanoi will continue to have policies to encourage and support enterprises producing key industrial products to form internationally competitive enterprises, leading, supporting and supporting other enterprises to develop together.

First, improve the investment and business environment for enterprises producing key industrial products.

The city will implement solutions to reform administrative procedures, reduce the time to handle administrative procedures in a way that is convenient for enterprises producing key industrial products. Implement an inter-sectoral coordination mechanism in the form of electronic notification of the list of enterprises producing key industrial products, focusing on the fields of tax and customs.

Support and advise key industrial product manufacturing enterprises to access preferential loans from credit institutions, central and city funds through organizing connection activities between key industrial product manufacturing enterprises and commercial banks, funds, financial institutions, etc.

Regularly remove difficulties and obstacles for enterprises producing key industrial products, creating favorable conditions for enterprises to develop and contribute to the overall development of the capital.

Second , support enterprises producing key industrial products to develop science and technology.

Specifically, support enterprises producing key industrial products to connect with domestic research institutes, universities, and scientists to help enterprises apply scientific and technological advances in production; bring scientific research projects into practical application in the production and business of enterprises producing key industrial products.

Third , support enterprises producing key industrial products to develop human resources. Specifically, organize activities to connect enterprises producing key industrial products with reputable training facilities in the city to train and recruit high-quality human resources to serve the production and business of enterprises.

Organize short-term training courses for leaders and managers of key industrial product manufacturing enterprises on management skills, business administration, production management, marketing, digital transformation, international economic integration, access to advanced and modern technology, export to key markets, free trade agreements, etc.

Fourth , select and honor key industrial products. In 2022, 33 products of 25 enterprises were recognized as key industrial products of Hanoi city and 10 products with the highest scores were recognized as TOP 10 key industrial products.

Fifth , promote trade and investment promotion activities and support enterprises producing key industrial products to develop. Most recently, from October 19-21, the city organized the Hanoi Key Industrial Products Fair 2023.

This is a large-scale event on Hanoi's key industrial products, successfully organized since 2022 and has become an annual fair of the capital's key industries.
