Tet holiday schedules of localities range from 7-16 days. Lao Cai and Ha Giang give students the longest break, from February 3 to 18 (December 24 to January 9).

Meanwhile, Bac Giang only gave students 7 days off, from February 8 to 14, similar to the Tet holiday schedule for workers. Hanoi gave students one more day off, starting from February 7.

These two localities explained that the Tet holiday for students is built according to the general Tet holiday schedule approved by the Prime Minister. This holiday schedule is reasonable, does not cause disruption to families, and avoids unsafe situations when children are off school but parents still have to go to work.

A representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training shared: "If students are given a longer break, many families, especially young couples with children of preschool and primary school age, will have a hard time without someone to look after their children."

For the remaining provinces and cities, most students will have about two weeks off. The latest time to return to school is February 19, the first Monday of the week.

In early November 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed to the Lunar New Year holiday schedule from February 8 to February 14, that is, from December 29, Quy Mao, to January 5, Giap Thin, a total of 7 days.

The above holiday schedule applies to civil servants and public employees. Localities will decide on the time for students to have Tet holiday based on the school year plan. In previous years, most provinces and cities gave students about 10 days off.

For students, universities and colleges are proactive in arranging training plans and school year time frames, so they often give students 2-3 weeks off. Some schools give students more than a month off.
