The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just issued a document on not organizing receptions, receiving guests and receiving congratulatory flowers on the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

For many years now, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has announced that it will not organize receptions and receive congratulatory flowers on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, in order to implement the Government's overall program on practicing thrift and combating waste.

In Dong Nai, the Dong Nai Department of Education and Training said it has just notified educational units in the area about not organizing receptions, receiving flowers, and congratulatory gifts on the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

Ms. Truong Thi Kim Hue, Director of Dong Nai Department of Education and Training, informed that the unit has been doing this for many years, with the desire to spread the spirit of thrift to all staff, teachers and students, contributing to building a civilized and thrifty society.

On the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, Kindergarten 14 (Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City ) also surprised with a special invitation from the principal.

In the letter, Ms. Huynh Thi Phuong Thao, the school's principal, announced that she would not accept flowers or gifts from parents, but only hoped to receive "surveys" to improve the quality of education and strengthen the connection between the school and parents.

Many people consider this a practical and humane action in the context of economic difficulties. Previously, Mr. Le Hong Thai, Principal of Phan Van Tri Primary School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City also refused to receive flowers on November 20.

In a letter to donors, agencies and businesses, Mr. Thai stated: Every year, on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, the school receives many congratulatory flower baskets. However, these flowers are only used for a few days and then thrown away, which is a waste. This year, the economic situation is difficult, the school respectfully hopes that donors, businesses and organizations, instead of giving flowers, will donate notebooks, milk and sports equipment so that the school can reward students.
